Sheesh... I know I don't have any animosity towards the British people, people who do are just acting stupid. I suspect British papers may be deploying some Yellow Journalism, so watch out.
I didn't have time to read all the posts but in light of the BP situation, there are many Americans furious with that British company. Americans did not hate the English people but we are getting to the point of intensely hating an English company. Whenever I hear one of the representative of BP with their English accents, I get angry and don't one to hear another English accent. British Petroleum has definitely put England in a bad light and it is important for the English people to condemn BP as loudly as Americans are.
This is a crazy question... never at any time in American history, after the War of 1812, have Americans hated the English. If you are English all you need to do is come over here and say something in whatever British accent you possess, and at least a dozen people will want to date you for that reason alone. (You don't even need to be white! Seriously, any color, you have a Brit accent and you're golden!) This whole BP thing is just a lot of yellow journalism and a historical blip.
The real problem is that Americans are mad at BP, and want BP to pay... but BP is important to Britons, especially rich Britons who have investments in BP, also, pension plans are tied up in BP investments and the like. a fact which Americans probably don't understand. So, some in Britain feel threatened by all this negative attention toward BP, and misinterpreting it as American hatred of them, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Couldn't care less about England or English people.
What's the last important thing England has done. California is more powerful than England.
And THIS is why people hate Americans... ignorant, conceited people from flyover country who feel the need to exert their dominance to make them feel better.
Just to let YOU know, there are many Californians who couldn't care less about Minnesota or Minnesota people!
