Appropriate? Absolutely not.
Perpetuating? Absolutely

Why? Double Standard given to, well people that are routinely excused for their failings. In the end, it only hurts them.

To me it is racism in this sense. They do not like it when others from another race use it. If the word bring so many bad memories from the past, why use it amongst themselves? It does not make sense to me.

If I am called ******* in a derogatory way I do not like it whether a Mexican or American call me that. Now, I have been called ******* in a different context and has not bothered me the least beat. To me the intent is what is important.

To me many blacks simply hold on to much to the victim mentality so they do not want to hear anything that offends them from others than themselves. To be fair the same mentality I have seein with my latino peers and other groups, take care.

Like profanity, a racist term is either racist or it is not. It does not matter who is saying it or who it is said to.... Yes.

A lot of them may do it simply to do things like sell records. Shock value. Remember NWA? How many records did they sell to white middle class frat boys simply because of what the N stood for?

Some words just need to die, never to be used again. That word is one
of them. There is nothing endearing about that term. The man I marry will
despise that word just as much as I do. That will prevent it being passed
down to the next generation.
