The person went on to say that they are most afraid of SATANISTS ABDUCTING THEIR CHILDREN when they come to trick or treat, or poisoning the candy.
According to Snopes, there have been no reported cases of Halloween candy being poisoned: snopes.com: Poisoned Halloween Candy , and Satanic cults have never abducted children, that was just an urban legend: IPT Journal - "The Satanic Cult Scare and Allegations of Ritual Child Abuse"

There have been cases of tampered candy, but they are few and far between: snopes.com: Pins and Needles in Halloween Candy

If anything, the origins of Halloween are more wiccan than satanic. On the other hand, the early Church co-opted Saturnalia (because they couldn't get the masses to stop celebrating it) and turned it into Christmas--Jesus was born in late spring. But after four or five centuries of inability to stamp Saturnalia out, the Church had a revelation. Who would have guessed? Jesus was actually born on December 25--voila! So anyone who has a problem with Halloween should certainly not be celebrating Christmas.

This shows how unimportant postings on facebook actually are! It's the "as seen on TV" phenomenon, writ electronically.

Religion combined with ignorance has been a problem for a very long time, most Christians today are pretty normal folks but the number of extremists among them is growing. The fear of Satan is very real for many of the Christian believers, to walk around thinking that some kind of supra being will try to delude you into a false sense of security and then harm you is certainly pushing fear to the front of the Christian theology. Taken literal, most of todays religious beliefs seem pretty bizarre, and most of the Native American beliefs are likewise hard to reconcile with a less literal modern outlook. Overall, we can only hope for a fair degree of modernity to be present in the religious domain, without it we could be faced with a theocracy, not unlike the Taliban.

On the other hand , there is enough anti-halloween sentiment out there to have transformed the "Halloween Parade" at the elementary school into the "Autumn Festival Parade" or some such thing.

I feel really sad for their kids. This person acknowledged that they were forced to not participate in Halloween when they were a kid too, and did not like that. Yet they are now doing the same thing to their kids. So instead of joining in on a fun harmless celebration with their classmates, they have to sit in a separate room and draw or something.

The only time I've heard this kind of thing is from really ignorant people who are trying to prove their commitment to their faith. And people like the newly converted who's first reaction is to point out all the sins of everyone they know like they have suddenly gained secret knowledge about everything by slapping a label on themselves. They don't actually know anything so they make stuff up to sound good.

Anyone who thinks Halloween, as it is observed in the US, is Santanic, is an idiot. You'd have to be nuts to see anything remotely evil or satanic about kids dressing up as their favorite character and going house to house to sing cute songs and get candy.

Yes halloween is a satanic "holiday" and "celebration". Trick or treating is particularly selfish. It's another holiday now over commercialised for big business to make big bucks. Does my opinion make me an idiot (as a likewise idiot suggests above me)? Well come and observe the rest of my life and tell me that, whatever.

Is it a commercialized holiday? Yes. Overcommercialization does not equal satanic. Its a fun day for kids, that's it. Why do people need to read into things so much? Do you really think that 99.99999999999% of people who dress up, go to parties, or trick or treat on Halloween have the intention of worshipping the devil???

Trick or treating is selfish? No, its a fun tradition. And as an adult who hands out candy on Halloween, I find that to be as fun as when I was a kid going trick or treating. Nobody is forced to hand out candy. Get the stick out of your butt and have some fun once in a while. You must be a real hoot around the holidays.
