What would an ideal American society look like? I'm talking jobs, families, culture, etc. Would it be like the 50's where the man worked, the women stayed home, and everyone had tons of kids? Or would it be more contemporary, where the men stay home, raising the adopted chinese/african/etc child, while the women brought home the bacon? Or something dramatically different?

I don't know if you could ever have a cohesive society because everyone is do different in their views. To me, I'd love to see just everyone get along and to see our rights the way they are meant actually backed up. I would love to see dirty politicians (which is most of them) out of office and good people who believe in America and keeping work IN America get in office.
I'd love to see farmers be able to farm their land and not have to worry about real estate developers scaring them off to build 600 condos at 400K each.
I'd love to see Moms be able to stay home and get paid to stay home and raise kids...
There's so much but to see any of that ever happen in my lifetime or my kids lifetime is nearly impossible to fathom. I do sometimes think that times were simpler back in the 50's from what my family and friends have told me who lived through those years but then again, ignorance IS bliss. I don't know how many of those women were truly happy being at home, not supported if they wanted to work outside of the home and just expected to know her place and raise kids all day long. Here again though, if you have nothing to compare it to, well then how would you know anything better existed?
If I ever win the lottery, I'm pulling a Johnny Depp and buying my own island LOL

Cool. For me I have a bit of nostalgia for the past. I don't agree with the discrimination and sexism back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, but I really like how everybody use to live within their means, have a nice family, and go to work and actually make something. I think that manufacturing may be dead in the US, but you can be more proud of assembling something from nothing than selling someone a hamburger. Other than the cold war, people had no worries. Energy was cheap, there was good music, and all the good stuff. So I think 50's and 60's, but with the civil rights of 2050, where everybody is treated equally, and nobody is discriminated against.

An ideal society is one where people don't steal from one another via the government... basically a society that doesn't have "money" anymore and people have to be responsible for themselves...

I realize all over the world we have become a melting pot. I've often wondered if the economy and freedoms of each country was in place....if everyone would be happier in the area of their origins. People have a variety of culture and religions that could be enjoyed more freely if they weren't just a day on a politically correct calendar.
