Actually it does. It adds costs to health care. It is in society's best interests that we are healthy.

People need to get their facts straight before they make sweeping generalizations.

It's not complex in your case. Stop binge-eating, eat healthy food and exercise.

That's like telling an anorexic to "just eat something!"

It doesn't quite work that way.

Food-related disorders are very difficult to treat.

Is that all he has to do? Shoot, I wonder why he never thought of that.

I am being naive for encouraging somebody to stop making excuses, put down the fork and take responsibility for themselves?

P.S. I knew all of the answers to those questions in that mean-spirited, ridiculous and biased video.

Yes you are when you oversimplify and project your relationship with food onto someone else. I am not in his situation but I can envision it. I don't smoke but I can understand what it is like to be addicted to something.

Don't you think he's tried to control his appetite?
Don't you think your advice to simply "Stop overeating" is ridiculous?
You actually think he doesn't know that? Come on....

I'm one of the ignorant ones...I thought the depression came before the eating, but what would I know? I am too thin and always have been. I don't eat at all when I'm depressed and I also have a high metabolism. I am a very slow eater and normally I am halfway done eating when everyone else is finished. I guess I tend to chew a lot more than most people. Food is the farthest thing from my mind when I feel depressed and I would even welcome some "Soylent Green" just to get me through a meal or two, just not the original recipe SG, if you know what I mean.
