I think politics are thinly veiled as secular religion.

We define Democracy by giving divine power to the people to determine their destiny the same way Jesus was sent to earth to give man power over his salvation. Isn’t the Constitution just a document reiterating Christian Values? Why are Republican and Democrats so divided over issues that pertain to Religion? Where ever it is inappropriate to talk about Politics it is also inappropriate to talk about Religion. Politicians are Demonized and Canonized the way Religious icons are.

No . Secular is basically whatever turns you on more than anyhting. That is why they seldom agree on what is rght and what is wrong.

In a way I see the connection between religion and politics.

Both involve faith (the process of non-thinking).
Both worship persons based on ideology.
Both have leaders who start sentences with "I believe....", which is another way of lying or saying something without commitment.

At least politics in most cases deals with tangible concerns as opposed to religion which involves superstitious brainwashed people to allow the supernatural to run their lives. Also, there don't seem to be too many "Born Again" party members who, after hitting bottom due to alcoholism, depression, prison, drug addition or something like that undergo the political equivalent transition of "Finding jesus" as a way to survive.

Well, religion is a form of political ideology. So, its more that religion is a form of politics than politics a form of religion.

That's an interesting take like the chicken or the egg, I wonder which came first? In both evangelize and subjugate is the first step.

You've definitely got a strange dictionary on your bookshelf. We don't give politicians "divine power." Some of them may think that's what they have, but no such thing was ever handed to them.

Forgive me if I didn't make myself clear , Democracy gives people the divine power over polititians to determine our destiny. I see some of the same comparisons when comparing Islam to Christianity as I do when comparing a Monarchy to Democracy. Christianity allows you to question your leader. "My God why hast thou forsaken me"

No.

1. Democracy isn't based on the idea of giving divine power to the people, it is based on the idea that governments derive their just power from the consent of the people. Divinity has nothing to do with it.

2. The Constitution has nothing to do with Christian values. I haven't read every word of the Bible, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to say about a bicameral legislature, immigration, interstate commerce, due process of law, life tenure for federal judges, quartering of troops, or any of the myriad other topics covered by our Constitution.

3. There are parallels between religious beliefs and political beliefs, but they are by no means universal or generalizable. For one example, many of the social views of Christian fundamentalists, such as male domination, female modesty, respect for authority, abstention from alcoholic beverages, intolerance of homosexuality, and adherence to a literal interpretation of sacred scripture, is closer to fundamentalist Islam than to anything else, yet you will find that fundamentalist Christians are generally more opposed to Islam in public life than almost any other segment of society.

There's no evidence other than religious books that jesus ever existed.

Whatever "christian values" mean. Every week it seems there's some story about "inappropriate" behavior by some sort of pastor/priest/whatever.

The first word that comes to mind when I hear or read "pastor" is "creepy". You almost have to be a little bent in the first place to be a pastor; either that or a con man interested in tax free earnings - taking advantage of a gullible population.

Socialism and communism constitute a secular religion. Marx was/is the prophet, das capital was/is the bible, and heaven on earth is the promise for being a good socialist man.
