Blue states are good for drugs, crime, corruption, graf, gangs, higher insurance rates, high power rates, higher property taxes, more traffic, more people, bankrupt state governments, bankrupt city governments, politicians in jail, people that say they care but don't, lack of morals, should I go on??

Well Indiana is an example of the Red State bringing in Ill-Annoys middle class
the Middle Class and even some Upper Class is fleeing Illinois to Indiana.

I'm someone who moved consciously and intentionally from a red state (Arkansas) to a blue state (Minnesota). Great move, much better quality of life! MN is a state where many rural areas are deep deep blue, which is great because I'm a rural person.
I spend half the year in a purple state. I like it, but Blue is Better!

First off, grouping Missouri in with Arkansas and Louisiana is just wrong...Missouri is NOT a red state. Missouri is a swing state in elections...so whoever wants to call it red, go ahead, but realize that this state is a bellwether state through and through.
I'm not sure the state matters to me as much as the county. I think I'd generally prefer a red-county. But not just any red-county, some are better than others. And I probably wouldn't want it too red, maybe reddish-purple.
A fair amount of the time Blue means urban or rural-hippies. I think I'm too old (I'll be 35 on the 9th) to become an urbanite now. Although Iowa, a swing state but more blue than red, has some blue-counties that sound alright to me. And I used to think it might be neat to live in Maine. Although if I lived in Maine I'd probably want Piscataquis County as it was their sole "red county." If you want states though some red-states I'd like to see include: Alaska, Kentucky, Montana, North Dakota, Tennessee, and Wyoming.
But I don't want to make it sound like it's overwhelmingly important to me. It's a factor, but not everything. A healthy and middle-class blue-county is more for me than some dire red-county. And I like some conservative Democrats.
I like to be around open minded people who dont discriminate if you are gay, straight, lesbian and dont judge if you dont have a religion, so for that i will always live in a blue state.
I don't have the 2008 data at my disposal now, but will use county data for the 2004 presidential election, and normalize the shade of red/blue by the % of county won by candidate. So, pink = weak Republican, aqua = weak Democrat. % won by county in the legend, with 4 gradations.
