Okay.. so I wanted to have a thread where each can talk about their experience shopping on the exchange for insurance in their state/County.

Be nice .. please

I looked at Platinum level , as I use insurance more because i have pre-existing condition.

I live in PA

Platinum Plan $290.97/month for me (without tax credit or subsidies) - (son is covered on Chip)
My medication is tier 4 ( I called to double check) so it's $50/month (which is typical for what I've had in the past and currently)
$30 specialist
$15 PCP

THat is PHENOMINAL..

and my doctor (my endo) is in network.

For a family (you, spouse and kids) $815.44

Again.. PHENOMINAL. Way better than the previous individual markets.

So I've had a positive experience.

Highmark offers a platinum for a little over $300 with a $500 deductible. Haven't looked into what the prescriptions will cost me a month but primary and specialist are covered 90% after deductible.

Comparison to now:

I'm covered on PCIP plan (bridge plan till 2004) .. had to meet a deductible ( I believe it was $1500). Insulin out of pocket $100 for a 3 months supply (if ordered through mail order). Copay with specialst $30.. not sure about Primary care because I haven't had to see mine.

I did get a little screwed this past year because i had the state sponsored Pre existing plan at the beginning of the year and met that deductible, then they swithced me into the national and i had to meet deductibles twice this year (grrr).. but still grateful to have had insurance at all considering...

My fiance currently pays about $400/month for a plan with deductibles. So he will be making out better on the exchange as well (his insurance is one that will be cancelled on Jan 1st). Funny.. they tried to get him to "lock in this years rates for another year) before the exchange came out. If he did, he would be paying over $100 more AND have to meet deductibles again. So I'd say he's getting a better deal as well.

Please share your experience.... State, plans and costs, etc. and how it compares to what you have (if you have) now.

Please only respond if you are someone that has to shop on the individual market and arent covered by your employer.

THanks

Current plan $82/month, $3K deductible, HSA account, PPO plan.
New plan(s):
$270/month, $3650 deductible, HSA account, PPO plan - same company.
$120/month, $6K deductible, HSA account, PPO plan, different company.

I only have insurance for the HSA tax benefits, so I will probably switch to the $120/month plan.

This^. What the uninformed, misinformed, ignorant, or truly stupid fail to grasp is that if they are not paying the full ticket price for their insurance, someone else is making up the difference.

BINGO !

Like the woman on Judge Judy who insists that...she.....pays for raising her own kids despite having no job.

She considers AFDC, FOOD STAMPS, Section 8.............as HER......... money.

(now govt subsidized health insurance can be added to the list )

Bragging about how low of a health insurance you can get under ObamaCare is like bragging how big your food stamp allowance is every month.

Nothing to be bragging about ( IMHO )

It is not the same thing at all. The OP was just saying how happy she is that she doesn't have to pay a fortune for health insurance. What's wrong with that? It's not like she gets it completely for free.

-------" completely for free"------

I guess a... little.. direct welfare is OK as long as taxpayers aren't paying for all of it...........SARC

I didn't even mention if/what subsidies I qualify for.. so not sure why they are even going there.

I noticed only ONE individual actually shared their current plan vs. what is available to them on their exchange in their state)..

Which makes me wonder if they are all just blowing smoke or actually LOOKING and shopping it themselves on the market.

This would be a great place to compare and a place to show how their state has good or bad choices...

This isn't about bashing the ACA.. just share your premiums/rates etc that are available to you.. simple.
