I think we need to go back to the basics....protection of property and penalize those that physically harm others. Most of the rest of it needs to go away such as drug laws, prostitution, verbal crimes.
all federal statutes and laws should have a 10 year sunset clause, removing them after 10 years unless voted by congress back into being. too many federal laws are outdated and useless, but there they are, still on the books.
Lots of people make a lot of money off of crimes and criminals. One growing area of the economy is private prisons. The companies that own these prisons spend lots of money getting these 3 strikes law passed as they need prisoners to continue to "grow" their industry.
This doesn't even begin to mention all of the attorneys, judges, court employees, sheriff's officers, police officers, prison guards, doctors, nurses, and several others whose livelihood is dependent on crimes and criminalizing things.
Oh, so it's ok to put a pothead in prison (not jail, prison) for 25 yrs cause there's money to be made?
I think the National Sex Offender Registry should be limited to dangerous offenders, not someone who was accidently "offensive." I'd rather be aware of violent criminals in my area than someone who was seen relieving himself in public and is now on the same list as the Craiglist Killer. Let's have a National Violent Criminal Registry, including violent sex offenders, home invaders, and murderers, and quit ruining teenagers' lives for non-reoccurring mistakes.
The answer for me.. and eventually will be everyone's answer (sorta)
All of them!
But we can take our time about it.. I'd like us to throw out every law in our system.. and start with a new "bill of rights" that'd be a good start... but I don't think this is very realistic right now..
but I do know that we are going through some changes this year.. and for the next 20-40.. and really up to a 100 years from now.. I don't think there will very many or any laws left.. good times.. cya, then (and also charge the flux capacitor! )

To understand correctly the "all of them" idea.. you're going to really see a shift in consciousness.. a change in the thinking of people.. and with that shift than you will see the laws or governments begin to reflect that change!
