"The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.

This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years."
Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released... and here is the chart to prove it | Mail Online

People who claim that man-made global warming is happening should certainly be able to produce very clear aggregate global warming data that supports their theory.

Just as prosecutors must provide jurors with clear and unyielding evidence before they can expect a jury to support their theory of a defendant having committed a crime, similar evidence should exist and be presented by global warming supporters. However, aggregate global warming data since 1997 works against their theory.

Where the beef?

The Chicken Littles will be here shortly to call you a "Denier".

Im glad to see many people are now beginning to see the nonsense in this whole Global Warming/Climate Change Hoax.

I wonder if the point where adding more CO2 to the atmosphere doesn't result in more infra-red capture. It's well known that each ton of CO2 added to the atmosphere absorbs less IR radiation than the last. By itself, CO2 can never increase atmospheric temperatures dramatically. It was feared that CO2 would cause enough of an increase that water vapor concentration would get to the point where it would take over the green house gas role. Water vapor is a much better absorber of IR than CO2 is.

Maybe it just didn't happen. Probably something got left out of the models. They were always wildly over predicting temperature increases anyway.

1997 and 2012 are two awfully specific data points. What about 1980 to 2010? 1996 to 2014?

Default Since There Has Been No Global Warming Since 1997, How Do You Explain What's Shown In This Graph?

I'm not staking out a position on warming, positive or negative feedback, human contribution, etc.

But I ask you, can you reconcile the simple graph I attached with the statement that there's been no warming since 1997?

The article cites date from 1997 thru 2012, not just the two years 1997 and 2012 that you mentioned.

Global warming supporters claim that warming is and has been occurring in aggregate across the world, which is why they call it "global" warming.

You are isolating on but one area.

Various spots and/or regions around the globe could be warming and cooling separately and independently of one another and offsetting on an aggregate basis. However, the point was and remains that there has been no global warming in aggregate from 1997 t0 2012.

When someone claims "global" warming, they certainly should be able to produce clear and unyielding evidence that supports their claim.

Where is such evidence?

Yes, I understand that, the point is why that specific period? Why not 1998 thru 2012? Why not 1980 through 2012?

I mean, I know po9 already explained the real reason why, but I'm curious what your justification is.

Before it was called global climate changeit was called global warming. With global climate change as a name everything that changes is claimed as due to man's activities. This is patently false but good marketing.

Scientists claimed for decades if not longer that the idea of a creation event or big bang was silly. Now its accepted by the vast majority of scientist that the universe did start singular big bang. Wonder what will be considered settled science in 20 or 40 years on this and other matters..................

I simply believe scientists dont know what they do not know... so their views will change in the future.
