Just be honest, you want it because you want to use it as a recreational drug.
have you ever heard of the term self-medicating ?

DPolo's right....not all of us need to go to a doctor to know what we need and what works for us.
Health food stores where I live carry a HUGE variety of amazing herbs...they do a brisk business because not all of us are into the synthetic pharmaceutical drugs that doctors prescribe. Just because it's the herb marijuana doesn't mean it's for recreation only.....your synthetic doctor prescribed drugs make you feel "high" too...only they're waaaay bad for you, and marijuana's not. It's really a very fine plant, and it's shameful that it's being denied to so many people who would seriously benefit from it's amazing anti inflammatory properties as well as the feeling of calm and well being it provides.
You can blame corporate greed and pharmaceutical companies for that...they'd rather have you suffer than to use a product that they can't make money off of.

I would think that someone who knows 95% of people who use marijuana would have a more enlightened view on the subject....have you seen the new product idrasil?...It's made for people like you...who aren't comfortable taking a medicine unless it comes in a nice normal looking pill bottle...

It is time to abolish the ban and making marijuana illegal. Drug companies don't want it legalized cause it will wipe out their business. Why are we banning a plant that grows on earth? Richard Nixon went against the advice, and wanted a war on drugs. What a bloated waste of taxpayer dollars. We are fighting the wrong enemy.

If cannabis is a schedule 1 narcotic then what do you call the legal drugs that have a greater health detriment on society?

Let Monsanto and Phillip morris have it... hybridize the stink weed smell out...put it in a pharmacy or liquor store... tax the crap out of it.. arrest every DUI...can't pass a drug test for work ...get fired... stoned in public...get arrested..just like alcohol...
Use the tax money for the enforcement and addiction side to deal with the 10 percent stoner population
Don't give out social welfare ... test for mj... and other drugs... because mj kills motivation.

What a waste of oxygen people who seek lives focused on drugs are.. let's hope their seconds on earth negatively affecting the rest of us pass quickly ....

What a waste of the gift that life is...

I call them "Cash cows". Alcohol and ciggies aren't legal because they are "safer"...they are legal only because the Gov't makes oodles and gobs of money off their sale. Marijuana is quickly being added to their roster of drugs that WEREN'T OK until the "drug profits" started to roll in.

Hypocritical _ _ _ K E R s

It's a fact that if we were to go back in and reschedule all drugs, alcohol and tobacco would be listed as "Schedule 1" drugs. (addictive with no medical benefits whatsoever).

As far as the question posed... it really doesn't matter what the Gov't says or does regarding "marijuana"...whether it be rec or med. The train has left the station. The genie is out of the bottle.

The only thing the laws, regulations and retail sales do is keep the money in this drug.

be safe all

Whats funny is that here in Oregon we have both now. As a FYI the medical side was enacted several years ago. And as you say....its manufactured to exact lab tested standards, prescribed by doctors, and distributed only by licensed facilities......

It is a natural plant.
The problems all began when they made it illegal. Before that it was common and it was a cash crop for many uses, but I don't think it was sold for people to smoke. The canvas on the covered wagons was made of hemp fiber, as were flags.

Truth is that the Feds are the biggest drug dealers and they don't want to lose the income.

The Fraudulent Criminalization of Marijuana in America | Global Research
OhZone: Your last line is what I've always believed. The decriminalization of a drug that's not as harsh as alcohol will cause corporations to lose money and that's what I believe has kept it illegal all these years. Money drives drugs to prematurely be put on the market (despite possible deaths) and drugs like weed not to be put on the market until the pharms can figure something out.

My mom took a synthetic form of marijuana (marinol, maybe was the name) and she hated it. It wasn't similar in quality to low-THC weed. Supposedly it had a higher cannabis content and it didn't help.

Its a flippin plant. Why is tobacco legal, but cannabis not. Why can we drink ethanol but not smoke an herb? Why are lab made opiates legal, but not a plant....profit and who gets it, thats why.
