In America, white people dominate drug abuse and drug addiction. And this goes beyond the stereotypical drugs that are completely dominated by white people like LSD and mushrooms. It also extends beyond powder cocaine and prescription pill abuse which are also dominated by whites in raw addiction stats. When it comes to hard drugs, white America dominates heroin and crack cocaine use. Although the stereotype of crack and heroin users are down and out black people living in the inner cities, the real face of hard drug addiction is often a middle class to wealthy young white person from the suburbs or a rural areas. Walking into any 12 step substance abuse meeting is almost a whites only affair in most places outside of all-black inner city areas. As it stands, approximately 90% of heroin addicts are young white people residing in the suburbs and rural areas. Opiate addiction has been called a "white disease":
The new heroin epidemic has been engineered to negatively effect comfortable suburban white America this time around. Ever since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, heroin production has skyrocketed there. Big Pharma has used prescription painkillers as the gateway drug to get moneyed white America hooked on dope and it's worked very well. White kids with rich parents are fueling the multibillion dollar heroin industry stateside.
Even crack which has been stereotyped as a low-income black ghetto drug is overwhelmingly white when it comes to the average user. Even when crack use was at its peak in the early 90's, over 50% of admitted crack users were white:
Despite most crack users being white, a 2009 study concluded that 79% of people convicted for crack possession were black. What gives here?
The war in drugs has disproportionately negatively effected black urban communities since tough on drugs laws were passed in the late 70's through the 80's. Today, there are more black men in prison that there were black people in slavery in 1850. Most black men incarcerated today are locked up for nonviolent drug offenses.
Any intelligent unbiased person can see through this sham. Foreign grown hard drugs like heroin and cocaine were imported into inner city black communities following the race riots of the late 60's as a means of population control. When factories shutdown and relocated overseas, all that people in the ghetto were left with to survive was welfare and the underground economy of hard drugs. White people have more money and more leisure time to indulge in drug addiction. Inner cities became supermarkets for hard drugs. The war on drugs and the booming privatized prison industrial complex ushered in a new era of slavery for disenfranchised young black men who chose to make money illegally by selling drugs.
But the ugly fact is that white people are more likely to abuse all kinds of drugs and become drug addicts:
But what makes whites more likely to abuse a myriad of harmful deadly addictive substances compared to all minority groups? Is it cultural? Does it have to do with the fact that whites see themselves as "normal" and raceless and don't feel connected to anybody or anything? Is it the white American cultural overemphasis on independence where kids are kicked out of the house at 18, people live in one person households and people shove their parents into old folks homes? Is it because whites are always bored, like to flirt with death and have more money to throw around than other races?
1. Blacks are more severely punished for these crimes while whites are more likely to get a slap on the wrist. Especially for first offense.
2. White drug use don't destroy families as easily as black drug use does.
3. Drug use is covered up more easily in white culture, in black culture it's often open for all to see.
4. Whites even when on hard drugs and substances have more options out of their torture than blacks. More money equals better options for drug rehab.
5. And finally white leaders don't sit back and WATCH their people kill themselves on drugs or throw them away in prision and think that is helping society as is a problem in almost every low income black neighborhood.
Blacks are viewed as such on the outside because they LET drug use kill their neighborhoods and often do nothing about it. you almost never see white communities suffer the same fate. They know those people need help and get them the correct help.

No doubt blacks are given a harder time by the police and the system but I think there are other factors.
I think more blacks are involved in large scale dealing on the street which leads to more arrests.
Gang activity...
I have been out of the US for 15 years but I remember in Long Beach lots of black guys selling mostly crack openly on the streets.
Very few white people deal openly on the street, lots of dealers are very selective of their customers, they won´t sell to you unless they know you well. These guys don´t get caught as often.
The only whites I ever knew who sold fairly openly were the youths selling meth for the bikers at the sea wall in Ocean Beach.

Another reason blacks face more scrutiny than whites is that drug violence is far more prevalent in inner city black and Hispanic communities. Organized crime that deals drugs is far more likely to have black and Hispanic members than white and the drive bys, drug killings, cartel beheadings are connected to black street gangs and Mexican cartels.
Also drug usage in the black community and subsequent police actions are looked at as "racist" and bullying. White communities are far more tolerant of police actions against drug abusers and dealers than black communities.
Another thing is while more white people use drugs and probably sell them that is just raw stats. Blacks make up roughly 13% of the U.S. population whereas whites make up over 50% so there are literally hundreds of millions more whites in America. Of course more whites are going to do more drugs, but as a percentage of each demographic whites aren't even in the top 3:
Quote:
Of the major racial/ethnic groups, the rate of drug use is highest among the American Indian/Native American population (10.6%) and those reporting mixed race (11.2%), followed by African Americans (7.7%), Hispanics (6.8%), whites (6.6%). The lowest rates are found among the Asian population. (3.2%).
As you would expect, the age group that uses “illicit drugs” the most is 18–25, and males use drugs much more than females. But look at the racial groups: Not much uniformity there either. That darn model minority, the Asians, are there again busting the curve for everyone else, with only 3.7 percent using, versus 9.2 percent for all groups, which is also the white total. But blacks are at 11.3 percent, meaning that they use drugs at a rate 23 percent higher than the general population and whites.
Lately marijuana drug-law enforcement has been singled out for particular criticism in this regard, but now look at table 1.24B. Same thing: The 18–25 year-olds are by far the worst, and males smoke much more pot than females. And the racial breakdown is the same, too, so that, for example, blacks use marijuana at a rate that is again 23 percent higher than whites.
Punishment, plain and simple. Whites are more likely to receive lenient sentences when compared to blacks. Whites also tend to use prescription drugs more than others and this easily goes under the radar when compared to Pookie buying a dime bag of Reggie on the street.
This isn't a blame game. It's just a fact of life that blacks (men especially) have a slimmer margin of error. White male judges are more likely to sympathize with a young man or woman that reminds them of their kid or grandkid. I suspect that black judges would feel the same way when dealing with troubled but promising black teens.
The war in drugs has disproportionately negatively effected black urban communities since tough on drugs laws were passed in the late 70's through the 80's. Today, there are more black men in prison that there were black people in slavery in 1850. Most black men incarcerated today are locked up for nonviolent drug offenses.
So do you think if we released the entire population of black prisoners incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses, the inner city black community would improve? Look, I get it. Policing and arrests do unfairly target black males. However, black people who think American society treats them unfairly should realize this. Generations ago when the slaves were freed, the race to the top had already started years ago, which means for a black person to achieve parity with a white person, he would have to work two to three times as hard. Is it fair? Of course not but that's life. So what white people take drugs? They also have generations of accumulated wealth passed down by their families. If you can't make other people give you a fair shake, you'll just have to get there yourself.
3. Drug use is covered up more easily in white culture, in black culture it's often open for all to see.
4. Whites even when on hard drugs and substances have more options out of their torture than blacks. More money equals better options for drug rehab.
I hear you and agree w/you wholeheartedly.
Interestingly..
I work in a profession where the drug- related sins of whites are definitely on greater display, yet are more easily covered and are undoubtedly more socially accepted.
Considering whites make up about 74% of the population that would indicate that other races have a much higher rate of addiction. Whenever you are making comparisons of different races in the US if you are going to make a fair comparison you need to use rates, the only part a percentage would play is to factor the rate.

For starters there is not a lot of drug violence in white neighborhoods nor are they standing on the corner trying to sell them. I live in county that has about a 1% black population and if I wanted drugs that's where I'm heading because I know I'll be able to get them there.
The consequences of a largely single-parent homes with few successfully employed male role models is highly destructive among young black males, particularly in the inner-city and ghetto areas. In the street and gang cultures, the pimps and drug dealers are the ones with the flashy cars and money to spend. Once a young black male drops out of school and gets involved in the street culture, it doesn't take long to get arrested for drug offences, which often lead to felony convictions and prison. Young white males are more likely to be drug users than dealers, thus, are less susceptible to street arrests.
Both young white and black males tend to make stupid choices that get them in trouble. In such a case, it is extremely difficult for a young white male with limited education and a felony or prison record to fight and claw his way back into some type of meaningful role in society. It's next to impossible for a young black male. They quickly become society's rejects. In many ways, their lives are over before they really get started, which often leads to greater drug involvement, both as addicts and dealers.
A lot of suburban white parents have no idea the amount of drugs little Eliot and Ashley are doing because they still think drug use is a poor inner black thing. When I went to college I was surprised at how many white guys were drug dealers
