American country people are stereotyped with both of these virtues, which in a way are really opposite aren't they?

I think Midwesterners and Southerners actually work less hard than people in the West and Northeast. But, I don't think this is a bad thing. It just means they know how to enjoy life better!

Because country people are very honest, even if they know how to take it easy. They have a good work ethic, but I would bet you they actually work fewer hours than people in California and New York City. Because coastal yuppies and city people are workaholics and the capitalist vibe is the strongest there.
