I've seen on the politics forum and election sub-forum a lot of rhetoric and logical fallacies used to defend points. I am a moderate because the Republican base is becoming too far right for my liking so I am a "Marxist Progressive" but not into most Democrat options. Then you see a lot of straw man arguments, circular reasoning and ad nauseam posts. I wonder why this is the case.

Arguing is fun. Arguing without the use of logical fallacies is more effective, but it's just too hard for many people. People here do a better job of it than most. To see a real fallacy fest, read through the comments on any popular youtube video.

While this is an interesting discussion, it isn't a great debate.
