I've always wondered why America didn't ramp up security in the 60's and 70's at airports when hijackings where much more common. Why wasn't the TSA around then? Why was airport security so lax?

I think 9/11 was about much more than Saudi hijackers. Look at what's happened since then in the name of "security". From the TSA to the NSA. I think the general dumbing down of the country is scary. That's scarier than a terrorist attack.

If terrorists want to attack, they will and there's not thing one that can be done about it. It serves America's purposes to keep her people afraid of foreign threats.......real or imagined.

They did ramp it up and then after 9/11 it was ramped up even more because it was thought the laxity of the private contractors who had been in place since that wave of global hijackings and ransom demands was the reason box cutters got through the American and United Airlines security.
