Yes. Does our legal system care about "breaking up families" when other crimes are committed...by actual American citizens?

Yes. We don't have to kick down doors and do round-ups of everyone; cut off the benefits and punish their employers...many illegals will leave of their own accord. But those who are involved in violent crimes need to have their doors kicked in. Treat them like an organized crime syndicate; investigate everyone they're associated with and do sweeps to send as many packing as possible. When we house these people in our jails, we just give them opportunities to recruit on the inside. Often they force others to join their gangs by threatening the prisoner's family. Apply the death penalty to illegals convicted of murder and child rape.

I'm a liberal person politically and I get tired of all the crying about the libs who are supposed to be in step with the party welcoming of these illegal people coming here to work. We need to protect our own economy and get out of the mindset of globalism and the elites ideas of it's supposed benefits. The lax border is a product of NAFTA, period. Donald Trump can't fix stupid, and unfortunately the Donald himself seems to want to fall in with the stupid with his off the cuff remarks meant for his circus audience who just love the show..The Dems have no one that wants to help us either..We do need to take some drastic measures in any attempt to improve things here, my hope is that we proceed carefully, and that means working to overcome the divisions the pols have created.

The influx of legal workers needs to be looked at also, after all it is the corporate class that creates our laws, tailoring them to serve their own interests, and the H1B workers are here by way of our laws, change the law, change the paradigm. Just how much we will want to see a spread of our own well being accessed across the globe remains to be seen, right now we have way too many people who are unemployed, underemployed, and underpaid, and now we're adding to those ranks a new kind of American status, the permanently marginalized citizen, young or old we have an army of people who are not even counted for the purpose of determining our own needs, instead the needs of corporate America seem to rule us all.
crying about the libs? it is indeed the liberal position to welcome immigrants who will most likely add to the liberal voting block. apparently, you are a different kind of liberal and you don't see benefits to yourself and your liberal block. Trump's position on immigration has been criticized by liberal candidates as racist. the criminalization of immigrants is the problem liberalism tries to solve.

Cultural liberals and social justice warriors see immigration from central america as a form of coming back to home, since the united states took those lands and expelled the mexicans. therefore, the mexicans rightfully deserve to reside in the southwest with or without documentation. "too many immigrants" is considered a phrase by those who worry about white people's population percentage drop, those who are "haters" of foreigners. This is perhaps what will hinder Bernie Sanders who appear to be a working-middle-class, union advocate that doesn't reach to immigrants and minorities.

While the right wants a free-market of labor and capital migration without borders, the left wants a cosmopolitan multicultural world without borders. Both, of course, will lead to low labor cost.

At the end of the day, I wonder how they actually differ in reality?

I would round them all up and send everyone over 13 here illegally back to their country of origin with a rifle and 2,000 rounds of Ammo. They would all be air dropped by parachute within the borders of their former country. If they had a criminal record while here the parachute would be optional.

So....we all carry our ID with us? Have squads of special police who approach you at random and demand your identity papers? I think they tried that....somewhere back in time....think the guy's name was Hitler....

I have my "papers" with me at all times. It's extremely difficult to live today without "papers". Not even me I know leaves home without their "papers".

BTW...the only time I've been asked for my "papers" is when I committed t a traffic violation, buy alcohol at certain places or go for medical services.

There is a difference between welcoming the number of immigrants we are prepared to take legally into this country and something else when immigrants come over the border illegally, plunder our resources, and commit crimes. I can see the difference in that and most people would call me a liberal.

As far as "taking the country from them" in the previous century, I don't seriously think anyone in Norway or Germany feels like they owe the UK something for all the invasions into their country 1000 and 1500 years ago. Likewise, we don't owe anyone anything for winning the Mexican War. Anyone alive today was not and is not responsible for the slave trade or the Native American extermination. That was then, this is now. It's time to deal with what we have now and let the past lie in the past. That doesn't mean we can't learn from the past, but it does mean we should quit carrying it around like a big heavy cross on our necks and other people need to quit expecting us to feel guilty if we don't.

A choice? How about a nightstick to the shins or walk out on your feet?

I would go for curtain #2.
