I can't see it happening even if trump were elected. With those numbers that are being thrown around, the same US corporations that the politicians are fighting for tax breaks and lower minimum wages will hire lobbyist and the matter will simply disappear and be just another lost campaign promise.

farmers, meat processors, wine makers, landscapers would go out of business with :

a) no illegal labor
b) forced to pay minimum wage for american workers and still unable to find enough people

Suddenly, the price of products/services from those industries will rise and a wave of price increases will cycle through the economy resulting in rising inflation.

illegal labor is basically imported offshore labor.

If their here Illegally, sure would support that. This country needs to be cleaned up....And for the people who wanna whine about the kids...oh well, I guess their parents should've thought about their choices before coming here illegally and having kids....

I'm about sick of the *******s and bleeding hearts trying to justify the behaviors of illegal immigrants. Why is it our (America) problem if your country is so bad? Should we just open our borders and say "ok....come on in, because your country sucks" NNNOOOO! We shouldn't. Maybe citizens who feel their country sucks should do something about it, just as we have. Like womens rights movement, the black movement.....those are the people who made change happen, because they didn't like how things were going. They didn't run to another country hoping for a magical change.

If those places can only survive off of illegal labor, then they shouldnt have been n business to begin with.

I dont mind paying a little more for products if the immigraton system is very under control.

I think self-deportation would work best. Penalize the businesses big time who hire illegal labor(which is illegal by the way). With such a practice, self-deportation would happen. And quickly. And with states like CA thinking of offering free health care to all illegals, stop it!

Health Coverage and Care for Undocumented Immigrants (PPIC Publication)

Who wouldn't want to sneak over the border for such freebies? Love how the article justifies it all as providing "multiple benefits" to the state. Good grief.

As for the cheap labor argument/disappearing and costs sky rocketing, I call garbage on that. There are programs like E-Verify that exist that can bring in migrant labor. Legally. And what about all our own legal citizens, collecting some sort of government welfare beyond SSN/Medicare? I personally would require such people who are taking welfare and are able bodied workers to work in the fields. Or other low level/basic jobs that most anyone can do. They would have a job/another job they can work part time to make ends meet with this idea. They would provide the work that is needed in the marketplace, legal citizens would become less dependent on government $, would cause illegal immigration to drop considerably, and those here illegally would self-deport for they couldn't find work. And please, drop the enabling gov programs nonsense that states like CA are thinking of doing in giving free medicaid to illegals which encourages illegal aliens to come here. No rounding up required if we follow playing by the rule of law as it exists and if the ideas I've outlined above are strictly enforced and put into place.

FIRST - Seal (and I mean SEAL) the border to Mexico. We put a man on the moon, we can do this.

SECOND - Require US citizenship for even a penny of government aid.

THIRD - Implement E-Verify and slap a $ 25,000 fine on businesses for EACH illegal employee.

FOURTH - Cut off ALL federal money to sanctuary cities.

FIFTH - Deport all non-US prisoners to their home countries for imprisonment there. (This one might be tough since most Mexican officials are more corrupt than the people we would be deporting).

SIXTH - Allow LEOs to check gang members for citizenship. Instant deportation.

There you go.....
All excellent points. The fifth one will be difficult, yes, but if Mexico won't play fair and take back their prisoners, maybe they don't need our foreign aid.

What about all the American citizens who have Spanish surnames? Are they going to require every single person in the US to line up and "prove" that he or she has the "right" to be here by producing the right documents? Gee how does ICE do sweeps now? How do the FBI, CIA, and local law enforcement investigate crimes and take out criminal organizations now? How does the IRS investigate and punish fraud? How do we recover missing children? How do we nab credit card fraudsters? How do we thwart people planning terror attacks? How did we take down John Gotti and mafiosi? How do we hunt down fugitives? How do we spy on our enemies?

We already have the intelligence and expertise--we just aren't using it.

No, of course not. But remember, the topic title is about illegal immigrants.

Latino gang member who is not an American citizen -- deported. If they return to the United States, life in prison.
Gang member of any nationality who has committed a violent felony -- life in prison.
