There may not be much argument of the international point, but the question was constrained to "in America."

Some of those pictures einina had were of the Newport mansions. Many of those rich were happy but as many were not. For some, as long as one person had a flashier house, he wasn't happy. Ben has a saying for them, too. "If you desire many things, many things will seem few."
I hope we all agree - by our knowledge of the real Ben Franklin, that much of his life was spent in chasing extreme wealth for him and his family.

Just saying......he may have come up with some good sayings, but he was always trying to get big land deals out west (first from the King) and then appointed and anointed himself with the top jobs and pensions (postmaster general, government printing, etc.).

And that's not the 1/2 of it.
You can read about some of it here - suffice it to say old Ben desired millions of acres.

The pseudo myth that rich people are somehow burdened benefits them greatly.
Unless they have a crappy wife who makes their life hell who they cant leave without taking a major bath ... there is that. Or a bunch of pre-madona kids that are not yet old enough to kick out OR the crap wife wont allow them to be kicked out.

I can only imagine this sort of scenario is all too common with rich men.

Many to this day actually live in happy families. They tend not to be trying to play any monetary angles behind the scenes when taking the kids to the zoo, though.

Rich - $100-300 million. With income of more than you can really spend each year, so it grows by at least 10% a year.

That's enough to have a couple of $5-15 million dollar homes. A nice yacht. Drive anything you want, go anywhere you want. In a private charter jet. Give money to anyone you want. Focus on things that matter or interest you instead of working all the time.

I am not rich.

Donald Trump was rich, now he's going to find money can't buy your way out of having to work as President. LOL

You are rich when you are required to pay tax. Since the rich don't get any benefit from government, so as tax payer. Only who receive benefit from government is those who doesn't pay tax.

Most rational people would hardly call $23,100 per year rich.

Do you want opinion or do you want numbers

Anyone can state their opinion on who is rich and why he thinks so.

But if you think of a millionaire lifestyle ( not one who is just has a million or two, but one leads that lifestyle like the Hiltons and Rockerfellers ) then you need to be in the 0.1 percentage of wealth at a minimum ( $100 million or more)
