Here's the real issue. Non-believers occasional pull this "prove God exists" nonsense like they've had a great epiphany that no believer has ever had. News flash: I don't know a single believer who claims they can prove empirically that God exists. They're comfortable with that. You should be comfortable with the fact the since you can't prove God doesn't exist, there's a possibility that he does.

Now, please shut up about this. You're not being clever with this "prove God exists" demand - quite the contrary - its growing tiresome. You're not smarter than believers. You haven't thought of some brilliant angle that's never occurred to them. And you know damn well nobody can prove God exists. So, why even ask? I'll tell you why: because deep down in your little brain you really do think you've thought of something nobody else has. Get over yourself.
Ding ding ding. There IS a Religion & Spirituality forum on City-Data, and someone new just like that poster comes in prancing and dancing with the same line at least once a month. Usually they are formerly ultra-religious people who no longer believe and think they have some new idea because they have never encountered non-believers. The long-established atheists who post regularly can chew them up and spit them out better than the faithful. Oh, and there is an Atheist and Agnostic forum there, too.

There are four religions in the U.S.:

Religion
Politics (left/right)
Science (belief above all else even if evidence is WRONG)
Money

Almost everyone worships one of those four. Sad.

Now this is just...stupid. Why do some atheists think we believe God "lives in the sky?" Medieval artwork? And "super-human", um, no. Sounds as if you've been in too many comic books. Yours is a four-year-old's description of God.

You don't know me and so you have no frikken idea why I believe in God, but escaping reality isn't even on the list. If you don't believe, I don't really care, but at least either educate yourself about the beliefs of others or keep quiet so you don't sound ignorant.

So? How does that matter?

My 8th grade science teacher said you can't prove these is a God because if there is, he's both inside the test tube and outside of it.

A more interesting question is, even if there is a an overarching creator or God, how can we justify anthropomorphizing it and assigning it a gender, a personality, a location, and thought processes and emotions similar to our own?

The universe as we know it is boundless so there will always be something about it that can never be proven or disproven. I think that is why there are so many monetary prizes for proof or disproof of the theory of evolution and creationism.

Very good question. I find it amusing when people say, "Well! Do you REALLY think God thinks/would do XYZ...", plainly assigning THEIR opinions and would-be actions to the deity.
