So eating the goo of an insect, while you crunch on its EXOSKELETON is equivalent to eating a nice piece of steak, fish, chicken, pork etc? Go for it. I'd have to be shot down in Communist territory, like Jersey, to do that.

I don't believe I said they were "equivalent", I simply made a comparison.

Anyway, one has its skeleton on the inside, the other has its skeleton on the outside.

Stir-fried grasshoppers seasoned with chili peppers and lime are surprisingly tasty, and tarantulas taste a bit like crabs. Escamoles (ant eggs) seasoned with garlic and butter is a tasty Oaxacan treat, as is Salsa de Chicatanas, made by pan roasting and grinding Chicatanas (giant flying ants) into a mole sauce.

Very I N T E R E S T I N G...but think I'll pass.

I'd rather buy beef jerky or other jerkies.

Well, we all know that when you squash a bug, there is that icky ooze that comes out. Personally, I can't get over that image. Although, all the cooking shows, like Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmer make bug food look really interesting and 'crunchy' sounding which is an attractive aspect for snackers.

As for not eating rabbit, horse and dog, Americans see them more as domesticated or pets (except rabbit hunting is very popular and I remember eating it as a child) and there is that cute, big-eyed, innocent factor.

Kind of like a possum in the middle of the road, with its innards spewing out.

Well I sure would't eat flies. Yuck. Don't they eat them mostly in poor places like Africa here there is a history of droughts and food scarcity?

Some insects have things in them that might make you change your mind about eating them.
I've killed a few flies before that were loaded with maggots.
Have you ever seen what comes out of a praying mantis after it drowns ?

Food-quality insects are raised in a controlled environment, much like farm animals.

BTW - have you seen what parasites are in/on wild animals hunted for food?
