Yes.
It was effectively the end of the USA as we know it.
The SCOTUS was exposed for being just partisan hacks.

The GOP sent a MOB - paid for and bussed, to stop the counting.

Katherine Harris is now worth MANY MILLLIONS - you should see her Mansion on the Bayfront (she was the sec of state who did the work for Jeb Bush).....

Whatever small amount of faith anyone had in the electoral process was thrown out the window....as it has been many times since.

But the GOP got what they wanted. Wars, Recession and eventually making it so no one trusts our system any longer. And that's why we have the situation(s) we see today.

If you are a person of logic and reason, there is only one part of this case you need to know.

In Palm Beach County, Pat Buchanan got thousands (3K+) votes - he is a "hater" who denies the holocaust and thinks we should not have been in WWII. Palm Beach County is largely Jewish and had quite a few Holocaust survivors.

And so, they had a young genius math guy (stats) from Harvard on the TV. They asked him "Given this election (and the # of votes Pat got elsewhere), what are the odds of his getting these votes in Palm Beach County?"

I think he answered as one in Two Billion.....

So, taking aside the dozens of other actions that Jeb and Harris and the state and the SCOTUS and everyone else took....the odds of GW having gotten those votes were one in two billion.

Just that one part.

You are, by definition, a partisan or ignorant of facts if you truly think that one in two billion happened.....in one place.

No doubt GW "legally" won. Katherine Harris said so. But there is a difference between what is legal and what the real story was/is.

The real fact is that Gore, given any of MANY accurate scenarios, would have beat GW by 5-10,000 votes or more in Florida. Maybe many more. Just the Palm Beach Votes would have easily done the job. But the thousands turned away (culled from the rolls - mostly african american) and the other stuff would have added to that victory.

So, instead of Gore we got 9/11, wars that cost trillions and blood (still going on), the Great Recession (still going on in some ways) and a complete distrust of government which may last for generations. Oh, we also got the 20 Trillion in debt - largely the result of the War, Recession,Tax Cuts from deficit, etc....

But, again, the GOP doesn't care. Notice how much they care about the debt now that a black man is not POTUS. Up until Trump was elected, it was every other word out of their mouths. Now they want to increase it.

They don't even hide any more. Like a child, once you have gotten away with something so may times - it becomes legal.......

It was the extreme irony that this example of the GOP who touts itself as a champion of state's rights went over the state of FL seeking relief from the highest court in the land and shows that the GOP is willing to say anything and do anything against its supposedly values as long as it allows a win in the political arena--same as now...
They've always been that way
Claiming to be the champion of X, Y and Z and do the complete opposite
and their idiot followers still believe them

Amongst a variety of shady circumstances, the US experienced "misfired" Presidential elections (where the popular vote winner lost the election) in 1824, 1876, and 1888. Then there was a 112-year gap. Gore won the popular vote in 2000 but was ruled to have lost in one of the most shamefully partisan contortions of the law and facts ever pulled off by the USSC. The Ninth Circuit subsequently wrote a biting parody of the Bush v. Gore opinion in ruling on a California gubernatorial recall case. From a judicial perspective, that was about the only quality thing to have come out of the case.
