See - the problem is that "the people" - and maybe a majority, ASKED FOR IT.

Right now, many are suggesting this as a partial solution to mass murder in schools...or at other places. Of course, it is not the solution and it the wrong direction, but most people have no problem being total hypocrites.

They want small government then they chastise the FBI for not following 100's of millions of people down to what they post on FB.....

And so - we hypocrites will all just continue down the same path.

This is one of the dilemmas of the modern Right in this country. Out of one side of their mouths, they claim they want government small enough to drown in the bathtub. The other side of their mouth (or brain, in this case) is fearful if we are not constantly at war and increasing police and the overall "security state".

How many protests, demonstrations have there been against the Patriot Act and the enlarging of our Security State? Very few....and I'd bet 3/4 or more were on the left, meaning that the Right (by their silence) approves. Of course, GW put the Patriot Act in place and the percentage of Americans "for the war" was amazing high.

Again, most people - right, left, center, independent....are scared and are hypocrites. As it stands now, you asked for it. When you elect folks to office that are against it, then we can talk. As it stands now pols who are for "protecting the public" will constantly get re-elected.

As that saying goes - Liberty or Security. Pick One. We have chosen Security, so don't complain.

The People were given a false choice and snookered into it.
Some saw that for what it was and worked against it.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

^^That the saying you had in mind?
I'll still choose liberty. The actual sort.
