At any rate, repeal of the second amendment would likely leave the gun issues to the states except that guns may be banned in their entirety IN DIFFERENT STATES as the Constitutional right to own a gun would no longer exist.

There would never be a complete ban on guns or an amendment that would ban guns.
wouldn't you think that attitude would take quite a while to change? Don't you think there would be violence as people adjusted to the monumental change?

I'm sure many of these posters live in big city liberal utopias. They can possibly imagine many county sheriff's being very pro gun. They would also not be so willing to support confiscation as it would be placing their officers in unnecessarily dangerous situations.

The people quickest to say a gun ban would be fine are the least knowledgeable of the "gun culture" types and how the situation would happen.

As I said, the unintended consequences would be off the chart.

Mass killings would continue but a greater number would die. Search mass killings without guns. Crime would increase, the criminal knowing little risk.

"Ratified" means confirmed, not repealed.

A ban would turn millions of otherwise law abiding people into criminals. I don't know how many firearms are in private possession, but there are so many that a ban wouldn't have an affect on gun related crime.

By many estimates there are probably around 400 million private firearms in America. More guns than there are people.

Good luck with a confiscation.

Would there be a massive civil disruption?

Would Senators complain that the economy in their respective states has suffered an irreparable blow due to the lost tourism that depended on hunting? Similarly, all the industries that depend on guns would join the complaints: sporting goods stores, local places that host gun shows, gun and ammo stores, manufacturers, etc?

Would the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) be sued by the government to force it to surrender its database? Would its members be targeted to make them relinquish their weapons?

Would crime rates go down?

Would the government also ratify the 4th Amendment right against search and seizure without a warrant based on probable cause of a specific crime and the 5th Amendment right to due process of law and just compensation for property taken by the government?

I'm just curious I know a very small minority is talking about a total gun ban but I was wondering what you all thought the outcome would be?
What would be the outcome if the moon were made of cheese? Or a rainbow made of candy?

Do you want to be a slave? Then definitely take all means of defense from civilians while transferring it to the gov't.

Hitler banned Jews from owning guns. I heard it worked out really well for them.

And this is your perspective based on your status as a law-abiding, legal owner of guns?

The 4th & 5th amendments have been the national joke of our judicial system for decades.

No legal gun owner should be anticipating any protection under them, right now especially.
