I would agree, but this overall sentiment has been said in the past with other things as well, but people did just fine, businesses thrived BEFORE too, just in a different way.
If the internet suddenly went away tomorrow, yes, it would be tough for a short time, but I guarantee, business would find a way to thrive, people would do the same, keep in mind, the internet (what it is today) is relatively new (since about the late 90s/ early 2000s) Thats not very long in the big scheme of things.
There are lots of business models that have sprung up since the internet began that did not work before the internet and would not without it. My business would be impossible without the internet. Yes I could do something else but I could do something else now but it would be less lucrative.
