I may get hung but I'll estimate that almost half of men have virtually "insufferable" male ego problems. I have identified a few groups that may seem to have a disproportionate percentage of "insufferable" male egos:
1) Bodybuilders
2) Elite athletes
3) Health professionals
4) 4.0 type students
5) Climbers
6) Hunters
7) Sailors
8) Hard core 4 wheelers
9) Politicians
10) Cops/Fed. Gov. Agents
11) Actors
12) Newspeople

This is part personal experience and part "earned reputation".

What do you think? Am I missing some stalwart groups that clearly belong in any such Top 12 list?

If you know "one of the above" and they are as "sweet as they can be" then good for you. Save your breathe, a sample of one has zero statistical validity.

Many doctors and attorneys have huge egos. Corporate exec types as well. I have all of those in my family, all fairly insufferable.

Federal employees seems weird. Or are you strictly talking federal law enforcement?

Law enforcement for the most part.

Feminists. Envy and misandry make a toxic brew.

The most arrogant males I know of are those that generalize and stereotype.

Some men from southern Colorado appear to be pretty insufferable in that they presume to be a cut above most folks & quite judgmental about others fitting into some very narrow view of what's acceptable to them. What make them a bit sadder is that they seem to hold resentment against men who have actually excelled in a field & are probably actually actual elites in life & some guys from CO consider "elite" to be a derisive term unfortunately.

It's the "crabs in a barrel" approach to life, if a crab is seen to be rising above, the others will try to pull him down.

Unsuitable topic - on what possible basis is there to argue this. Not even any reliable psych or soc research.
