It's not so much the "artist" that work in the porn industry it's the whole management structure that is a questionable. You gotta be slimy to manage that business since crime has always been its partner.

and yet more and more people are willing to document and share that aspect of their lives, even without doing it for a living.

if its not out of a financial need, and its something everyone does (off camera) and its something that not only those in an industry (or those who are expected to do it) are participating in-- how do we determine that its "degrading," rather than saying "well, some people have a low opinion of it, therefore its automatically the fault of the person doing it."

do you brush your teeth? "yes, but doing it on camera is degrading."

do you have sex? is it degrading? in what way? i think we need more specifics (about how it is necessarily or automatically degrading, not about any person in particular.)

Porn actually doesn't pay that well and has been on decline since the advent of free internet porn. The women who work in porn nowadays mostly use it as a marketing tool to enhance their fees as escorts and that is prostitution and illegal in most of the US.

But the men who fanatically watch porn (100% of all men) don't have issues? Why is it such a one way street?

I personally think lots of men are uncomfortable with the amount of power some women have over them through their sexuality. The way they deal with this lack of power is to demean the women who hold that power over them.

oh, do tell us more about why people watch porn, please. do you have a theory about why women watch so much of it, or are they just copying the example from men?

i mean your entire premise seems to be based on two false stereotypes-- all men watch too much, women dont watch much-- i would love to hear more of this insight you have into the minds of your completely hypothetical, falsely stereotyped populous.

then tell me your theory on why puritanical killjoys are so fanatically obsessed with pseudo-intellectual bull****. not that you necessarily have a theory on that, im just always curious.

If you look at any documentary on pornstars. It's a very short lived career, you have maybe 5 years tops of work before the phone stops ringing. Then you're basically traveling around the country becoming a call girl to the stars or stripping from club to club. How can she refuse when people enticing them with endless amount of free publicity and more money all she has to do is show up and play her part. They have nothing to lose. In this case, the dirt on Trump wasn't enough because most Americans grew up knowing that Clinton cheated in the oval office and they still voted for him.

Being unfaithful in a marriage isn't enough to sway public opinion.

MrsM and I are good friends with a woman who stripped at a club I frequented in the 60s and 70s (Yeah, I was underaged, what the Hell?)

She is in her 80s now and we connected with her and her late husband 30-40 years ago at the theater. We all became great friends and have attended many family functions

She striped to feed her family and was never ashamed, it was an honest job and she never turned tricks. She still openly discusses her past

Her body was/is her own and she decided to use it for a good income. Hubby was a musician and they raised 5 kids. All are college grads and the older grandkids are in college.

I never thought about her negatively then, or now

Men generally spend a lot of time watching sports. Men and society in general idolize athletes, put them on a pedestal.

Men generally spend a lot of time watching porn. Porn stars are looked down upon and considered a horrible underclass of people.

Why is this the case?

A man beating another man senseless for peoples viewing pleasure = a good thing

A woman having sex for peoples viewing pleasure = bad

Explain your reasoning for this social discrepancy? I gave my reason, you give yours.

Where did anyone say men who are addicted to porn have no issues? Copy and paste that post please. Of course men who are addicted to pron have issues. Good grief.

I consider women in porn weak beyond measure. Weak in spirit and weak in soul. That they would debase themselves to such a horrible extent for money. If they actually had power they would RUN from it. I feel terribly sorry for them. What they do is demeaning beyond measure. Pointing it out, is *not* demeaning. It's the truth.

I've read the same statistic and it rings pretty true. What i find hard to believe is why anyone would question this statistic. Men are very visual and nowadays with the internet, there is porn at their fingertips. Lots of men look at it. They may not look at it every day, but they are definitely, at least, occasional consumers of porn.
