You're damned right we are. Why should I have to pay for someone else's mistake? Screw 'em. Let the market right itself.

The American consumer has an overblown sense of entitlement and expects to be bailed out of any stupid mistake they make. I say we shouldn't do it any more. I'm tired of helping out you people who bought more house than you could pay for. I'm tired of bailing out everyone who built a house on a flood plain and didn't get flood insurance. I'm tired of people who commit insurance fraud, welfare fraud, disability fraud, et cetera. You're all costing me, the financially responsible consumer.

Those of us who didn't make bad financial decisions really aren't particularly worried... We're more frustrated with you all who did make bad or greedy decisions, because you're trying to put your sticky hands in our pockets and acting as if you're entitled to our money.

Some of us see opportunities during this situation - and some took advantage of those opportunities yesterday

You're damned right we did. I'm quite likely to come out of this with my retirement set.

Members of Congress are suppose to represent their constituents.

And it is very obvious that many members did what they were suppose to.

Does it matter?

We live in a Representative Democracy, not a dictatorship. If you want the government to only do what it thinks is best for the country, then you don't want to live in a democratic society.

The definitions can obviously be detached from their intended meaning. Purchasing a property whose value is inflated is irresponsible.

By "mortgage industry", did you mean a CRA bank or did you mean an outside private broker working an LMI neihhborhood in hopes of building bundles of financing that could be offloaded to CRA banks at a profit? Were you working on residential or commercial properties?
Residential (residential includes multi-family.)

Broker with contract originators who worked their preferred areas. Loans were sold and bundled outside.

Encourage, assist, and maximize are all words that have a different meaning from "require".
I stand corrected. Due to the nature of the oversight, I believe that required practice will depend on the controlling party. I assume it to be Dems. I assume they'll continue to implement their socialist agenda that's been demonstrated with the CRA.

That would appear to me to make it an issue of regulation after all.
Typo. "I would say this isn't an issue at all of deregulation..."

Montrose, California, huh. Isn't that like right on top of the San Andreas Fault? Talk about your Poor Decisionmaking®...
