I am so glad to go away then try to think and rationalize with someone and debate about drugs.

ya it takes a lot of effort to think and rationalize , go back to your tv and make sure you don't miss the next episode of american idol. Thanks for posting, you've added nothing to this conversation.

Oh thanks a lot Now I'm gonna have bad dreams.

Under what Constitutional authority does the federal government impose speed limits? Mandate labeling of ingrediants of food? Outlaw child labor? etc etc etc?

A govt's inherent responsibility, at least in part, is to take care and watch over its people.
The Founding Fathers did give some specific responsibilities the central (federal) government has. However, it stated that other things not listed for the government to do is relegated to the states.

Watch over the people yes, not control their lives.

Ingredients in food content for people safety's is not controlling peoples lives.

If you look closely at the articles that list the federal government's responsiblities, they are mostly related to commerce and protection, not individual rights. Later the Bill of Rights simply listed them but did not say the Government has to regulate them, did it?

The general principle in the responsibilities for the federal government have to do areas that are for the protection of people and promote business and commerce.
An example:
An Army is there to protect the nation. It would not be possilbe for each individual to hire a Soldier to protect his home. That is why this principle is followed at every level. An army to protect the nation, a national guard to protect a state, a police department to protect a city. Everybody is benefiting with system.

How about speed limit? The states are the ones to control this but someone at the central government had to meddle a while ago in making a national speed limit. That belongs to the states.

I am advocate to follow these principles but there are many out there asking Big Brother to enact laws at national level.

You have a great day.
El Amigo

Rather than making $15,000,000,000 a year by just taxing and regulating it, we're spending $6,000,000,000 in taxpayer money a year and its not doing a damn thing. More people smoke weed now than ever before.

Is there a single reason pot should not be legalized?
OK you asked .... 1 reason is that all the hard working drug dealers would be out of jobs. We'd just be putting those good folk out of work, adding to our unemployement rolls and all their kids who wouldn't have shoes to wear.

Humans have been finding natural ways to "feel good" since the dawn of man. The only reason that pot is still illegal is because people would grow their own for personal use, just like a back yard vegetable garden. Therefore the government would not be able to tax it, like they do alcohol and tobacco.

1) this point was made before
2) as was previously stated you can grow your own tobacco too, but the bottom line is most consumers are lazy.
