I relish in the fact that most areas of the country do not share the socialistic tendencies of the District with respect to private purchase and possession of firearms

which is kind of what the 2nd amendment supporters are arguing for. fortunately, one of the founding tenets of our society backs us up in this desire, despite the amount of opposition from the supposedly well-meaning politicians that would take that ability away.

It was "we the people" not "they the government". The District gun bans enjoy wide public support, which inflames the NRA no end.

And of course, such "bans", as in the district, do not enjoy wide public support outside of the district. And, so it goes

Only New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, etc. Where civilized people live civilized lives. But even if we were the only place that wanted our gun law, we should be governed by those laws we pass.

unless they trespass on the rights of others, which they do. otherwise you are espousing mob rule, might makes right, majority rules no matter what. doesn't sound quite like the ideas that our country is supposed to be based on.

are you trying to pass off those cities as the only civilized places in the country?

We trespass on no significant rights. We abide by the Supreme Court Rulings.
