I think that when such a proposal comes from someone calling themselves FullbloodedAmerican, whatever that might be, is ample demonstration for the need of organizations working to bring equality to people of color.
PS - the thread also demonstrates a striking lack of knowledge regarding the work of the NAACP, the Legal Defense Fund in particular.
Bigotry needs no "knowledge." It is fully capable of standing on its own.
So then, nothing will ever be enough. For example, look at South Africa or Zimbabwe -- look what Whites did there in the name of egalitarianism.
Uh, whites did nothing (voluntarily) for egalitarianism in either South African or Zimbabwe, there were forced to. So be grateful.
As for nothing being ever enough, Dude, as historic as the election of Barack Obama is and how this most certainly marks an epochal step towards full inclusion of African Americans into the fabric of American society, there still remains for work to be done by both people of color and those of European descent.
For example, as long as some folks think that using the name Full-blooded American in a country that is a nation of immigrants to confer some sort of distorted self aggrandizement, to distinguish themselves from those who may have just arrived in our country, we will have a need for organizations like the NAACP.
And for that matter, all other racially based organizations for so-called "minorities", that were once intended to thwart "institutional racism"? If not, I'd like to hear why.
so you like to ban things huh? How ironic that your screen name is "full blooded American!
Perhaps you are merely being a bit disingenuous?
Your topic, and the tone[So then, nothing will ever be enough] in which you've been communicating during your thread, indicate to me that you would indeed welcome the extinguishing of the NAACP.
