This is still our nation and we have a right to say who can or can not enter our country. If we do not secure our borders, we will cease to exist as a nation.
In our current economic situation, we can not be expected to feed, clothe and house the throwaways from south of the border. That is the obligation of their birth nations.
I say erect a higher fence and shoot the invaders. All that they are is unarmed soldiers of the Mexica nation.
When did moving from one country to another become an entitlement? When were nations given the right to demand they that be allowed to cease caring for their own and export them to another?
I would like to live in Ireland. Its a wealthy nation. I demand to be let in. Its my right. Make it so.
I have to say I don't really mind the Mexican women migrating here. Maybe we could have a womens night once a week where they let the women into the US for free.
Houston umm I voted in the last two GOP primaries and my limo is a Miata LS. Closer to the truth? Most rant about Mexicans- do you see anyone worried about Canadians and Europeans breaking their visas and overstaying? I didn't expect to receive logical comments but that's what makes the column a success- it provokes! Other news papers have picked it up.
I think most americans will be worried about all people over stayign their visa's. They will also be worried about peole who neevre had a visa and came intot he country illegaslly. It will get worse with thsi economy has they see they are competing with those that have no right to be here or work here. Also they will want to0 eliminate those getting free medical care in thsi economy that are illegal.
Hollywood could certainly do its part to stop the green-eyed (dollar signs in their eyes) Mexicans and Central Americans from coming up here in hopes of achieving the American Dream. They could make more realistic movies of what REAL LIFE is like here in the U.S. to scare a number of them off, rather than constantly depicting the middle-class lifestyle. I learned long ago to lie to people in Latin America as to where I live (Las Vegas) as too many movies have been made of this city, neglecting to show the multitudes of homeless people living on the sidewalks around Main & Owens, and they seem to think I have a money tree growing in my backyard or I afforded my trip down there by winning a jackpot at the casino's. Nowadays, when down there, I stump them all by saying I live in Tucson. Movies come cheap down there, there seems to be a sidewalk pirated DVD stand in every other block down there and at a dollar a piece, these people have access to all the Hollywood movies. Let's put out some movies, showing the real struggle it is to survive up here, and maybe a number of these people will think twice about making that long dangerous trek up here.

Well Steven I'm sure if 80% of illegals were coming in from Canada we would very concerned about them, we'll clean up the little messes after we take care of the big one.
the fence works. the political pressure to delay or stop its construction was tremendous.
american money sent home 2nd largest source of income for mexico. most illegal drugs come thru the border to america. does mexico find this fence offensive, ubetcha.
Put up a fence, catalog everyone to make sure they pay taxes and let them (as in anyone) in. I don't mind more people who work, I do mind more people that don't.
