would you want your kid going to school with a kid with retractable claws? x-ray eyes?

To the point. We're getting wiser in terms of thinking and developing, but not in terms of "keeping up" with our "creations"

I dunno.
Our medical technology keeps improving but that doesn't mean that our decisions become easier.
I'd say they become more and more complicated.

maybe for some, but not for the many.

That said, there may be a time (I would think well ov r one hundred years down the road) when what you say may be true to a small degree. As to a line being drawn, it would seem to me that making science fiction creatures out of people isn't a reality.

some of these things are already in R&D. Its just a matter of figuring out how to implant them, how to power them, and if we should.

I think it will be alot sooner than many people realize.

The problem with the concept is that as we seem to progress with our 'outer' self.....we seem to digress with the 'inner' self. Living until we are 100 as a super human kind of means nothing if we are mean and selfish. Actually, the world might be better of if we kick off at 60 years instead. Just a thought.
