I agree.
People are hesitant to change, even when staying the course is obviously not in our best interest.

We NEED to redo the entire taxation system.
The IRS itself would save billions if it just ceased to exist.
If we had a consumption tax it would collect from welfare & others sucking the system as well. Eliminating all free rides unless a person was self sufficient, which nobody really is anyway but as long as your only taxed on what you buy its at least ethical.
I think it disgusting that people pay income tax on retirement funds after contributing forever but welfare folks dont have to pay. Its a direct penalty for paying your own way.

But, I dont think you'll see broad tax changes or cuts without drastic changes to our Gov't first. Its too fat & requires too much to support. Cut out everything but essentials, have the president & congress run it themselves without the dozens of agencies, commisions & other costly things WE fund to make their jobs easier & then maybe we can afford real cuts. Stop paying elected officials & stop providing security after they get out of office. Who else gets a paycheck for life after retireing & free security?
We need to cut costs I think before cutting taxes or restructuring it in a way that would cost taxpayers less.

Interesting thought provoking thread for sure!
Thank you!

Not sure if I buy his theory completely, but it does give me pause for consideration of its implications.
I dunno if I buy it either, but it is one of the better, well thought out, credible theories I have heard.

Please tell him thank you, for giving me more to think about and debate, and discuss. (I don't mean that snarky at all either, I am sincere, please thank him. I always like having a new perspective on things! )
