Why do you think it is good and why do you think it is bad?

I think it can be both good and bad as well. I like cultural diversity to an extent. Where I live and work (Cambridge, MA), it's pretty diverse but in my world there is an umbrella of commonality among the folk I work with; education and respect.

Nature prefers diversity over specialisation.
I follow nature since it has worked from the start.
Why fix something when it isn't broke?

Unfortunately 'fixing' is just what humanity is doing, so because of man life on Earth is becoming less & less diverse which will plunge us knee-deep into trouble if we're not careful.

That was my question. I was looking for a framework.

VERY uncomfortable subject there...and I doubt you'll get any 'head-on' answers.....although you MAY get paragraphs of oblique comparisons.

"Nature"? Nature also features hurricanes, plagues, death, pestilence, earthquake, and famine. Not attempting to take away from 'diversity' here, but since when do we look to 'nature' as our guide?

By 'nature', we should all have 12 kids, half of whom would die before adulthood, and the others survive into a short, brutish adulthood, before dying toothless and 'used up' by the burdens of life, at somewhere around the age of 45.

THAT'S nature......

What's ANY of this got to do with 'diversity'?

This sums up my views regarding diversity. Please no replies/comments unless you actually read the article.

I think that "diversity" is rapidly becoming a severely overused word.
