Has anybody ever changed your mind?

Yes.

Since I don't yet know everything about everything and am therefore not yet able to actually see everything with thorough objectivity, I let others do some of the work for me by learning as much as they want to about the subjects that interest them. I do the same about the subjects that interest me.

Then we teach each other what we know, one of the most fun reasons why humans are social animals. While others are teaching me, I am learning. As I learn, I can then find parameters, draw much more realistic conclusions, and when appropraite change my mind.

I look forward to a lifetime of learning like this!

I used to be so far left that I was the only one out there and now I'm a very conservative guy who believes in god, I never used to.

I love learning new things. My mind has changed on many topics through the years. As I have gotten older the less I have changed since I know more about who I am and what I believe. I am extremely confident in my opinions but I still love to hear how other ppl think and why.

Face to face? Occasionally.
On a forum like this? Never. Mostly because an awful lot of posters will have a well reasoned and presented argument and then throw in a gratuitous insult. Systems then shut down.

Libertarians have changed my mind or my viewpoint on, "Abortion, Illegal Immigration, Gay Marriage...., Politics, War..., Death Penalty." More importantly, I've gained respect for those who listen, and lost respect for those who are unwilling to reconsider a position.

Not in this forum, Politics and Employment, never in any healthcare thread.

Yes in Parenting, Pets, and Personal Finance.

I have to honestly say, no. Nobody has ever really been able to change my mind as a result of a debate. So this leads me to wonder if debate actually accomplishes anything other than giving us an arena to express our opinions?

What say you?
To an extent debates/listening to both sides of an issue clarified my beliefs.
