What a fascinating statistic; the economy does poorly and vasectomy rates increase. So we conclude what? That men without jobs are turning to sex to pass the time? Because if that's not the case, then there doesn't seem to be a reason for vasectomy rates to climb.

No, I think some guys are just scared to risk bringing more babies into a shaky world right now. And those who already have a couple are wise, I think.

I just think it's funny that it's taken people this long, because of a poor economy, to make this decision??? Better late than never, I suppose.

In '83 I decided to get my tubes tied. Had one child, didn't want anymore, and rather than make my husband do it, I chose to have it done, myself. A lot of women asked me why I didn't make HIM do it, but I had a good reason: If we ever split up he stood a better chance of changing his mind in another relationship; I did NOT.

My reason for it then had a lot less to do with my views on population control, which is big thing with me today. Now, I can't stand to see people have more than two kids. ( would make a terrible Mormon.)

So there's something wrong with those of us who have 3 kids?

Yes. You are contibuting to an-already over-populated world. My opinion. (Although I doubt I am alone.)

Perhaps you should stop trying to tell other people how many kids we should have.

It was an opinion. I'm sure you've posted your fair share of them, too. This isn't China ~ you can have as many as you want.

To throw in my opinion, I don't think the world is overpopulated.
I will also say that it appears to be very rarely managed wisely.

I wish the responsible men of the world could teach the rest something. All I can say is thank God for all the good ones!

Why are some people shocked that men are deciding not to have children or have any more children because they might not be able to support them? Children are friggin expensive, particularly ones with special needs. I seriously can't blame anyone for making this decision and actually I applaud them for it.

My husband had a vasectomy about 2 years ago and finances did play a role in the decision.
