It does not shoot any holes at all in the fact that none of the decisions made on the American side that eventually culminated in Pearl Harbor and the German declaration of war, can plausibly be attributed to a desire to stop mass extermination. Before mid-1941, Stalin's murders eclipsed Hitler's by about tenfold--and were better documented, since Hitler's were still unfolding. Yet we eagerly jumped into bed with arguably the worse of the two.

Blame the Japanese or making us go to war in Germany? The same way we blame Niger for making us go to war in Iraq. We're Americans. It is our patriotic duty to blame everybody else for everything that happens.
You have no understanding of history at all. Germany was engaged in unrestricted submarine warfare along the American coast by January 1942. They sank over twenty coastal ships in January 1942.

Why do you persist in this silly fiction? The historical record couldn't be more clear.

If we had been at home defending our own shores, where we belonged, this wouldn't have happened. But we weren't. We were over there, or preparing to go over there.

How many did they sink after January 1942? Why did they stop?

Becasue we built more escorts ships (war remember), improved our tactics, increase our shipping via terrestrial means (piplining of oil), and sank most of their submarines. They didn't stop voluntarily, we stopped them.

LOL. Either there's serious cutbacks or it's a tough neighbourhood?

The illegals coming here in high numbers is due to the greed of many employers in the US-including anyone on these threads which have ever hired a construction, yard or other work crew without demanding to see proof of whether or not the employees were bonded. President Eisenhower, in the 1950's dealt with the same thing, and not only rounded up illegals, but punished those who illegally hired them in a major way-the result? It stopped-for awhile anyway. Bush vetoed bills across his desk which had this provisions in it, and Obama is about to capitulate as Reagan did in the 80's, in granting amnesty to illegals already here, so guess what? We have a big time illegal problem still. The immigration issue is a major one indeed, but to liken it to why we were in World War 2 is a showing of much ignorance. The Germans posed a far greater threat to us than the Mexican illegals, had they defeated England-we would have been next since they were aligned with the Japanese. If you know your history, then you know Germany declared war on us first following our declaration of war against Japan after Pearl Harbor. The other difference of the illegal immigration and World War 2 comparison is this-in World War 2 this nation was run by grown men, who were truly smart and had an abundance of common sense. In Bush and now with Obama-we are led by spoiled little boys whose mindsets are about on level with one reaching puberty. They act, but they don't lead. Last, don't go offending any of our great veterans and their families by even suggesting we had no right to fight the Germans in World War 2, it doesn't wash and it isn't fare. If you want to illegal alien issue to be dealt with the right way-hold your local elected officials accountable and take your country back! Stop electing idiots like Bush and now Obama, who run things for only their narrow minded money men, who expect a kick back for the help they give during the election process.

I hire "illegals" all the time. I disagree with our immigration policy. These people are part of the future of our country. They want to come here, work, raise their families and join the American dream. We need more people working to balance social security. Immigration restrictions are a modern innovation that run counter to the founding principles of the country.

How many did they sink before December 11, 1941?
