NO !! I don't trust authority (maybe that's why I have never been on the wrong side of it)

The cops around here seem to be very good people for the most part, and i've always got along with them very smoothly.

You mean relative to a random cross section of the population?

You could ask if I trust homeless people, convicted felons, pot heads or carnival workers too. How about salesmen, teachers and pro-athletes while we are at it.

In general, the only interactions I've had with the police resolved themselves fairly. (Yeah, that means I got some tickets I deserved along the way.) My buddy is a defensive atty so I'm not naive enough to think that they are all perfect, honest etc.

I agree. There are good cops, indifferent cops, and a few bad ones. But considering the alternative, I trust them more than I trust any other 'group' out there who holds power over me.

If a cop gets out of line, there are steps we can take. When a gang member gets out of line, I'm afraid we're pretty much 'stuck'.

Ummm. OK. When a 'gang member' gets out of line, that's where the cops are supposed to be there for you. That's asking a lot. We have to be responsible for our own defense as well. Most good cops understand this.
