I have a simple scenario for those that want all weapons taken away.
There is a line of 4 houses and a burgler is looking them over trying to figure out which one he should rip off.
He knows that 3 out of the 4 houses have guns in them, which house do you think he will break into???
If he's ambitious, he'll wait till nobody's home and break into all four. Guns are easy to fence.

I have assiduously avoided this thread until it dawned on me that I could careless about whether the U.S. was gunfree or not. What I would like though would be for the U.S. to be gunfire free. How you attain that, I don't know, but that is what I want.

Why?
Do you wish the several million Americans that defend themselves with guns each year harm?
Do you wish to undermine the number one most successful conservation tool in history, regulated hunting?
Do you wish to outlaw team practice for Olympic sports?
Do you wish to ban all trap, skeet, target & other recreational shooting pastimes?
Do you wish to forbid domestic training of our police & military?

What do you wish to accomplish by this?

Tin Knocker is correct. well intentioned gun control advocates seem to be incapable of grasping the full scope of firearms usage. Only a fraction of the total number of weapons are used to hold up a convenience store.

To everything there is a time under heaven.

And how would such a thing be done?

I was really asking the gun prohibition fans how they thought the US could be made "gun free".

I think that it would impossible in the US. Congress will not vote for it . It would be political suicide for any administration to even attempt it. Most law enforcement and military people would refuse to enforce it.
There would be massive civil disobediance and passive resistance from the population.

I can't understand why the gun control fans cling to an impossible dream.
