I am not uncomfortable that they would say they think anyone not of their particular branch of religion is going to hell. I am trying to understand why they are so sure and why they are so readlily able to dismiss all the other religions in the world that also have a path to heavean. what makes them so sure it is their religion that is the true and right one

Where are you getting the info that Palestine was peopled by Arabs? From what I am gleaning, the region was inhabited by everyone but the Arabs prior to the conquest by the Islamic army.

And as far as Afghanistan is concerned. The country is currently in the control of actual Afghans. If you believe that the Taliban has some supreme right to Afghanistan then that is your misunderstanding. The Taliban is a brutal Islamic fundamentalist regime that is trying to wrest control of the entire region, and that includes Pakistan.

Dear jtur88,
You will answer to all the people that Jesus is superior than other gods if and only if you try for quality of life. Hope so you never tried for Quality and Superior life in your real life. Dear friend, I am Explaining you one thing " I Have a friend, he having a luxiours and peace life and a big Palace, One day he callled me that Ram, I am going on Vacation, you please come and enjoy my Palace, I Kept the KEY under the Roja Plant infront of the gate". My Enemy heard this conversation and before me he went to that place and kept thousands of duplicate keys. Now I dont know which is the orginal key to open the door. I tried one key that failed and left that and tried for next and failed, I repeated the same for somamy keys. Finally I found the Orginal Key after tring of somany duplicate keys. Now , the same thing happening in our real life, People are tring for duplicate keys to open the heaven door and luxorius and peaceful life. People who found the real key, living with peaceful life and saying that my FRIEND is ONLY the best, because they founded quality of life by opening his friend's palace.. So you also try for the quality of life, You will say that you friend only the best.. Have you ever tried the same ? If not, Do not delay this is the right time for you ...

Regards
Ram Yerra

.
Brush up on your history. Palestine was a very tiny part of the Levant, barely larger than present-day Israel. Arabs dominated culturally north into present-day Syria and Iraq. My remarks addressed the entire Levant, not just Paletine.
330 AD. Palestine under control of Rome, and Constantine converts to Christianity.
352 AD. Jewish revolt against Byzantine (Christian) Romans brutally crushed.
614 AD. Roman rule ends as Persians take over Palestine.
634 AD. Muslims repel Persian occupiers and take over Palestine.
638 AD. Within 4 years of Muslim rule, Jews are allowed to freely return to Palestine, for the first time in 500 years.
1099 AD Christians try to invade and take it back by force. Christians had no natural claim to the area, except that when it was occupied by Rome, the Roman Emperor became Christian. Crusaders brought nothing but continuous warfare and a brief 88 years of oppressive European rule.

Back to the point of the OP, there is certainly no evidence that Christians were "superior" to anyone else who occupied any middle-eastern lands.

And Muslims got as far as Tours in France before Charles Martel stopped their invasion.

I think we atheists are a whole lot better citizens. We don't put people to the sword for being religious, stand on corners convincing people to be athiests, or even invade countries or groups who don't believe like us. We are ethical because it's right, not because of some fear drilled into children's heads.
I think all religions are equally specious, although I must say the Christian story sounds like a complex mass delusional system.

The centerpiece of the Christian Faith is Vanity. Some Christians are so vain, they believe the creator of the universe thinks they are important enough to pay attention to them. Others place vanity in the character of God, who is so vain, that He consigns humans to eternal suffering merely for not worshipping Him or dedicating their lives to His whims.

I think the Muslims have similar vanity issues, since the two religions are virtually identical in almost all fundamental respects, except one of them acknowledges a third prophet, instead of just two of them.

Why didn't you just say something like this in the first place. Now at least I know where your head is.
