BTW, I looked up the stats on murder in the USA. Statistically, the murder offender numbers and murder victim numbers are very close for both blacks and whites. I went to the FBI website to find that out.

I honestly thank you for your empathy...but its not your fault nor any other asian/south pacificer's fault that some lunatic store attendant went awol..lol..

I realize that we probably cant all hold hands and sing "we are the world" all day, but you'd think we could at least be civil towards one another.

I dont know what his problem was...but obviously, we cant conduct all business that way. Whats funny is that I wasnt as scared DURING the event (I probably even appeared calm, because I was trying not to make any sudden moves) as I was when I started driving home and realized that I could have actually gotten shot!...lol

This thread is silly. Not all asians have bucked this trend. Here is a link to burbank high school in sacramento. In addition to being one of the most ****-poor schools in Sac, it is also one of the worst high schools in California with an API rank of 2 meaning it is in the bottom 20% of all California high schools. 42% Asian. 29% hispanic 20% black. Of the 44 percent of English language learners, 49% of the schools children for which english is a second language speak a hmong at home. 78% of the chilren are on free or reduced fee school lunches.

So from these stats one can see, 1 the largest group of students are asian
2 the largest language outside of english is chinese hmong
3 The vast majority of students at this school are poor
4 Academic performance at this school is low

Sorry this school does not fit your stereotype of good little asian boys and girls. A lot of kids at the school resemble the asian gang member in Clint Eastwoods "Grand torino"

There are cycles that repeat generation after generation even after the original circumstances that established the problem is gone and there is every opportunity to break out. It takes time because the cultural norms tend to keep people in line. Fortunately many blacks have successfully risen above the culture that still traps others. The U.S. military over the years has been a place where some have been able to excel and I am personally thankful for that. I also think in part that political patronage has encouraged the status quo capitalizing on keeping people as dependent as possible on the federal government. I know blacks from Africa, Bahamas and elsewhere who are very successful and do not suffer any percieved disadvantage commonly ascribed to being black in America.

There is a well established hispanic population in America with a heritage that extends back to days when the U.S. was comprised of east coast states and territories. Then there are the recent arrivals that are largely economic refugees and are largely hard working if ignorant people looking for an opportunity to earn a good living for themselves and their families. They have arrived in such great numbers and the fact that they are illegals with not much education it is difficult to assimilate. Putting aside the legal issues, there is a language and an educational problem that is a hindrance to this later group. These can take generations to rise above if the federal government does not step in and institutionalize them but is not the same challenge some in the black community have to contend with.

Asians? This is not a uniform group but in large part they are educated emigrants who highly value education and personal achievemnt. The fact that they exploit the opportunities in America, that are really there for all of us, is a credit to them.

So there you have it, America still offers the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happines. We do not all start from the same place and the road forward can be more challenging for some versus others but you can reach new heights with each generation and those who achieve based on their own merits are most impressive people.

Interesting you mention that. Someone was actually shot and killed by a store clerk while walking away from a fisticuffs. A 15 year-old girl was shot and killed in LA by a convenience store clerk, shortly before the stuff with Rodney King started. The riots that occurred in LA were targeted at Korean community because many people wanted revenge over the death of that girl being shot by a Korean store clerk. The Rodney King verdict was just the straw that broke the camel's back. There was anger before that.

Go to the casino in Milwaukee and the high roller tables and rooms are all full of Asians and all engineering/math classes in college are either Indian or Asian. I suppose things are different in LA and SF but in Milwaukee we have a low Asian population but a high black and Hispanic population we have around 50-60,000 Asians. All our Asians for the most part are well educated well mannered and clean orderly people. Even the blue collar Asians have very nice homes and nice yards and you never see a Asian homeless guy in Milwaukee or anywhere else that I have seen. Milwaukee averages around 115-130 homicides even though last year we only had 70, not one Asian was killed or arrested for a homicide.

So if Asians were brought here by the white man to build the railroads and Hispanics immigrated here and blacks were brought here by slavery and all three ethnicity's started from the bottom why haven't Asians fallen into the "trap" that some claim that the man is holding them back and it's a white man's world...well the Asians have progressed and other ethnic backgrounds haven't why? I have seen many poor Asians that take such good care of there house and cars even thought they only make very little money and they are very polite people.

Another thing, I have talked to many immigrant Africans who don't like American black people b/c of the way they act and conduct themselves and I have been asked by people from Africa why are American blacks so violent in America? I have been told by many immigrants from Africa that say "they should be so happy just to be in America they have no reason to be mad and depressed"

So how have Asians Americans advanced and progressed and blacks and Hispanics not ? I'm talking as a whole society. You don't see Asian hoods in every city or Indian thugs on every corner in the hood.
I'm not going to bother reading all of this thread as the replies are painfully predictable, but just FYI you're not the only one who sees/gets it........and bravo for pointing it out, unlike the PC Nazis, white liberal guilt trippers, and other assorted yahoos. Sadly, you're spitting into the wind though, FYI.

LOL

There's nothing quite like watching someone call themselves stupid and not even realize it.

What I suggest you do is take a class called The Psychology of the Black Experience, or read a book about it. There is a lot to this issue with out just looking at the outside of the issue. Its deep and complex.

Here is an article: https://blackboard.temple.edu/@@BDCEB08C1014B105DA595D5B134FCBC3/courses/1/1216200811119/content/_1409644_1/Akbar%20Psy%20Legacy%20of%20Slavery.pdf (broken link)
Yeah because Temple is such an unbiased source.

I forgot to add that not all blacks live in the ghetto and murder and steal, or all in jail.
Wow, really??? No foolin??

PS and oh btw: that's not what he said.

Let me guess: you think the extremely high % of blacks in jails is a nationwide conspiracy by all the cops and judges and are all for "reparations".....

I don't think you get it. You don't understand and you don't care. I can see that already. You don't understand history in this nation. As for the high percentage of blacks in prison. Before it was a high percentage of whites in prison before 1965. What happened? I doubt the crime rate among both races has changed that drastically. My thought is that the laws have changed. Call it conspiracy all you want, but it does make you wonder what happened.

This thread has run it's course. Since it has ceased to be a debate, and has become little more than one liners and flaming......
