Not unless the lottery winner gets a TV show telling everybody else to send in money or they will never win.

"Pastors" who set up these mega-scams are the lowest of the low.

NO. If there is a preacher with a million-dollar salary, something is very wrong.

Of course, sometimes well-known ministers publish books and get money from the sale of same; but they should not hoard wealth, no.

I was listening on a conversation about a preacher making about 1.5 mil a year in Chicago on the south side. Just people talking, is it true...I don't know.

I had a conversation with a member of Rev. Meeks church in Chicago. I was told by him the member that the congregation wanted to put together a pool of money to buy Meeks a plane. He was working as a Senator and a Minister. They needed for Meeks to travel quickly. I don't know Meeks salary. So I wasn't saying Meeks make over a mil.

Why? Is he the only one on earth the Lord is speaking to right now? That right there, is a red flag.

They've got airlines, let him use the airlines like everybody else. What is so urgent that he would need an airplane of his own? That is bizarre IMHO!

By the way, I'd bet my bottom dollar that - by that definition - YOU are subsidized by the government! In fact, I'll guarantee it. Therefore, you and churches are exactly the same!

Maybe this article can shed a little light.

Property records show the couple secured two mortgages for the full amount of their house, $542,550, when they bought it in 2006. The house became a tax-free parsonage last year after the Meekses deeded it to the church for $1.

Default Peter Popoff

Article I found. I saw this guy on TV the other day.

Peter Popoff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to Charity Navigator, in FYE 2004, Peter Popoff received $548,167 as president of his organization and the Peter Popoff Ministries raised $16,220,066 in revenue in FYE 2004.[18] Then in FYE 2005, Popoff received $628,732, his wife Elizabeth received $203,029, his son received $182,166, and daughter received $176,290 with $23,556,469 in revenue.[18] These figures are from IRS documents, which "only outline the millions of dollars people give Popoff's organization in the US." I wonder if that was Bill Hybels at the Willow Creek Church.

Thanks for that information.

I've never heard of this Meeks guy. But it looks to me like this is just plain old simple fraud.

I wonder if there won't be a lot of court room appearances in this guy's future.
