Quote:
Native language is a language that was spoken there before the Spanish came and brought their language. English is not a native language in the USA, Navajo is. About 5% of all Mexicans speak a native language at home, and Spanish (which they took the trouble to learn, as a courtesy) when they meet someone who does not know their native language. In southern Mexico, there are fairly large cities where you will never hear Spanish spoken in the streets. Nobody complains.

Where do you get this stuff.
Navajo is not the United States of Americas' native language It is one of the many Native American languages. Although English is only an official language among some states, since the US became a nation, English is considered the native language as the majority of citizens speak english.
Mexicans did not take the trouble to learn Spanish as a courtsy. When the native people were conquired by Spain their native language began to die out. By the 1700s Spanish was the only official language and by the 21st century only 6% of the population still knew their native language.
