Define intellectual. In American universities, an emphasis on the analysis of causation and occurrence through a purely materialistic perspective is predominant at the expense of other perspectives. But, if the lack of acknowledgment of differing ideas is not "anti-intellectual", than the U.S. would definitely be near the top of the list.

I think most modern industrial nations have universities.
