But yeah, don't you think if every couple in America was having wonderful sex that more than 50% of marriages would actually last?
Sadly , the majority of Marriages are just putting up with one another. Its very refreshing when you run across a model Marriage ; in fact it sometimes gets me a bit choked up with delight.

The world is larger then your family. Just because you have children does not mean that everyone else has made the same choice. Or that others that have children that have grown must now be penalized for your having children. You sound like you have no control when you do. Now, you can make sure that the shows are on children's programming or turn it off. You have control. You have control of the computer. You have control over the radio in your house and in your car. You have control over magazines that come into your house. You even have control over whom your child associates with, especially between the ages of 4 and 8. Your NOT a victim.

Again, you have control of the situation. ABC 7 is a channel for adults. In fact, ABC has a channel specifically for kids. Is that program not on that channel specifically for kids? I wonder why.

Then change it to mean any parent. It does not mean that you have any less of control. It isn't relevant or not if you have a child or not. It is relevent in your concept of "family time" and its applicability with the rest of society.

Further, it is people that carry the same stance as yourself that is destroying this country. You have control. You choose what channel is on tv and you are fully aware that you will encounter adult material at some level on those channels. You control which magazines are brought into your house. When you pretend that you don't have any control or want someone else to control it for you then you opt out of taking responsibility. In fact, it then teaches other generations of not taking responsibility. It sounds less about protecting children and more about promoting ignorance.

there are lots of nasty commercials... how about the HPV ones.... I got my daughter vaccinated because she is going to be a **** just like me....but I don't think the pepto bismol commercial is any better...

That kind of responsibility is not unlike the kind of responsibility parents had way back in the "good old days" (whenever that was.)
Parenting, done right, is a tough gig.
I don't like those commercials, but if I am going to wring my hands over the sexualization of children, I'd probably point my finger at junk like Toddlers and Tiaras, and our consumerist, superficial society in general.
I still don't understand why *I* (let alone a 8 year old) should worry about visible pantylines, let alone whale tail, and parents who buy thongs for children have only themselves to blame.

Whatever happened to the idea of making your children safe for the world, instead of trying to make the world safe for your children? You're not going to change the world to be what you wish it would be. But you can raise you children so they possess a knowledge and understanding that will enable them to make wise choices and judgments in the world they will sooner or later have to deal with.
