How many think that life on the planet has more importance than just "being here"? I'm not caring about religious affiliation (if any). If you think life here has importance, please describe WHY it is important - - - with a big caveat - - - not the importance of YOUR life or your religious guru or hero, but the life of the most worthless person you can think of - and skip the obvious, "to show the wrong way of doing things" or "to show yada yada".

I think that when you die, you just continue to do what you always did. Your eternity is what your life was. If it made you happy to do what you did, then you'll have a happy afterlife. Those of us who chose not to live happy, you know them, those who are never happy with anything they have, its always about the next thing.
Thats what I think. If thats a test of some kind, and you learn the lesson when your done, well so be it. I don't think that life ends, but I don't believe in a place of eternal torment, or everlasting happiness. Whatever your life is, happy or a torment, that will be your eternity, doomed to repeat it over, and over, and over.
If you can die happy with what you've done, then good for you.
Seems to me, what you're asking is about life in general. And for that, I have to say I don't think it has any particular importance other than the fact of its existence. Mainly because the conditions for life aren't dependent on what people do; they're dependent on the environment. This planet happens to have such an environment, and voila--there's life!
What a tough question! LOL Perhaps you'd have more answers if there weren't such limitations put on them. I've often pondered....pondered mind you, no scientific evidence to back it up....just PONDERED...this very question. Many of us have heard the phrase, "Judge not, lest ye be judged", whether they are religious/spiritual or not. Do you suppose we are to live our lives the best we can, doing the best we can with what we have, without intentionally stomping on others, and without harshly judging and persecuting others for their differences?
Are we warned to "Judge not, lest we be judged".....because we will be forced to "put on those we've judged, shoes", in order to face that same judgement that we so "righteously" doled out? Hmmm Will those who had so very much in this life, but hoarded it selfishly and looked upon the poor with contempt, be the poor ones later?....and the opposite hold true? Good question! Personally, I have no answers to the question, only daydreams and questions.
how do you define "importance" in relation to human existance. it's important us, us humans. I'm not so sure that a mussel or clam finds that much importance in life on this planet. So this becomes a question of self awareness? as a clam , most probably has none.life is interesting, but maybe not important except to ourselves.

What good is it to have such an incomprehensibly complex and amazing universe without something or someone to appreciate and marvel at it?
I think that life is important because it is actually what lends some meaning to the natural order around it. Without life, all of this around us may as well have never been.
I'm more interested in what you think it would be a test for?
I don't think it has any "importance," per se (but I don't know what meaning you are ascribing to "importance").
