Obviously, there have always been racists who happen to be black. But I suppose that term has not really been around, or been a reality, or been used until recently.

Racism , from all races, has always been here. There is nothing new about it, from any source. Seems to me, folks are judging the history of racism starting with the birth of the US as a nation. It was here WAY before that.

Black racism does, however, come from a different place. It comes from a history of being treated as a second class citizen. White racism stems from superiority. This does not mean that in the 21st century that either one should be tolerated, but rather we should know the roots to solve the problems.

Good post. Other (most) minority groups have also been treated poorly by the majority in history. Heck, the Irish were treated badly and then of course in S. California you have a whole pack of asians that came to the US under desperate circumstance that were not treated well. (Intercontinental railroad was build on the bodies of a lot of Chinese and Irish.)

I think that evolving racism in the US is becoming more of a minority vs. minority thing since there are these "justifications" for racist views.

If you are white, yes. (Although I've experienced it first hand a couple of times in my life, it was frankly a good experience as it taught me some empathy for what others must go through a lot more frequently)

There are asians, hispanics and jews out there that this is old news for.
I'm not just blaming blacks and whites though, racial tension amongst various minority groups (crown heights etc.) is not rare.

You seem to be confusing racism with ethno-centrism. When you talk of people thinking that another person's cultural norms are undesireable but of his/her choosing and that they just "want to be that way," that is ethno-centrism. When a person espouses the view that a person of one race is innately inferior to another, and cannot "be" a certain way because of that race, that is racism. Anyway, both ethno-centrism and racism are alive and well in America.
