That's the thing. Can we ever foresee, or is there any history of, someone growing up to be a stable and productive citizen who says, "Well, once upon a time I killed a younger child just to see how it felt...but I'm better now. Hire me, marry me, let me live next door to you."

You have a one sentence line given by law enforcement as part of a testimony. Further, you don't even have everything that was stated in that testimony. The only thing that you know or anyone else in the general public knows is that she has had an extensive mental health history.
And you will probably never know because of privacy.
Depends on the situation. In this case, I would give the thumbs up. Lock her up and throw away the key. That's how it feels to kill someone.
That's what I'm starting to think too. This girl apparently had not reason at all. She killed to kill so it means it's very very slim to rehabilitate her. At 15 year old, you're already old enough to know that killing is wrong and leads to long prison terms, sometimes lethal injection.
So yes in this case, she would have to be lock up. If not, then put forever on a mental hospital as this is clearly a threat to society. You never know when she will have those urges again and that's scary.

Well, I have no problem with George Bush being locked up in a mental hospital for the rest of his life. Hey, make him be bunkies with this girl.

I think that girl needs some serious help. What could drive a girl of that age to do such a thing. I'm thinking more on the lines of committed counseling.

What is going on with our society when we got teen killing like this.
We even have them carrying guns into the schools.
Maybe we should be focused more on treating people better and not being so judgmental.

remember they put you on trial for what they caught you on, not for what you have actually done.
