When I was a teacher I used to do the same thing in the '80s. Now I find that fewer and fewer boys know how to do these things as well. It seems that more and more are interested in their cars looking good rather than running good.
When my daughters started becoming driving age about 10 years ago, I made sure they knew how to pump gas, check oil, radiator, washer fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid (if not sealed), tire pressure and knew how to change a tire--and show me they knew how. Oh, and drive a manual transmission.
Boys like girls are works in progress. find a Man.

That's the somewhat funny thing. I can change a tire, check my fluids etc, and my first car was a del sol - which was religiously washed and waxed by me. I really just never had the opportunity to pump gas, lol. Don't think I am missing out on much though
In the course of a family get together my aunt told us a story. She was going home from work and she needed gas. She wasn't with her husband and there was no one around to help her out. She had to pump her own gas! She was complaining about it like it was a horrible experience pumping her own gas! She felt that women should not pump gas; eventhough a girl in my town pumps gas all day. Since it does not take physical strength to pump gas, but was such the big deal? I could understand women not moving heavy objects around; I can even understand not enjoying pumping gas. But to make sucha big deal of it?! First, how many women refuse to pump gas? Secondly, (I do not know my aunt well) would you call my aunt a "diva" or a "queen?"
Being nice, I would probably call your aunt a "princess".
I've been pumping my own gas since I started driving. I've never even given it a second thought. Then again, I was also doing my own laundry and cooking for myself by the time I was 10.
Oregon still has attendants, they get pissed when us CAlifornians jump out and try to pump our own gas,,,,
because it's a Fire Marshall's law that you can't. When in Rome..........
We in Oregon love our attendants who pump our gas in any type weather. Awesome. Plus it is providing jobs. No complaints from me.
Prevents drive offs too
LOL. You just reminded me of the last time i got gas in Jersey. I was standing there pumping my own(which i always do) when i overheard the person in the car next to me tell the attendant that he needed a pack of Newports. I immediately knew what was going to happen. The dumb attendant shuffles back to the station to get the cigs and away goes Mr. Newport. The attendant looked like Chicken Little as he ran back out of the station when he realized he'd been duped.
Moral of the story: Only pay at the pump prevents drive-offs.

I don't blame women that dress to the T and wear expensive perfume one bit. I know alot of women who have vinyl gloves to prevent the gas hand smell. Its inf of like the smell of a smoker s clothes to a non-smokers;reeks with stale smoke smell.

Is she from the North East Coast? Because women in the NEC do not have to pump their own gas, there is usually workers doing that.
To call her a Diva? I would not think so. A diva by definition is a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera, theatre, cinema/ a female deity. Does she falls into any of the categories I have described above?

If so, maybe she can sing until someone pumps her gas for her.
