My biggest concern about porn-surfing at the library is the hygiene issue, if you guys know what I mean
No, I don't know what you mean. A patron who blows his nose in a tissue is placing your child at much greater hygienic risk than a patron who ejaculates. At least, that is my understanding, but I'm willing to be corrected. None of my GFs ever reported to me that they had ever suffered any ill effects from swallowing.
I saw a homeless person masturbating to a swimsuit picture in Vegas at the library here(on the net) , it was the most disturbing thing in the universe, and children were near! sickening!
I used to be homeless here in Vegas back in 2004-2005. I would go to the library everyday at that time. I never saw any homeless people masturbating. If you did, you should have reported it immediately. That is very serious, so the security would have detained him until the police arrived.

Somehow I would feel differently if I saw a guy jerking off in-front of a computer at the library then if a guy blowing his nose in a tissue. But I guess that's just me.

I have seen 2 different men, at separate occasions, masturbating on the subway right infront of everybody. But hell, it is a public place so why not!

"My biggest concern about porn-surfing at the library is the hygiene issue, if you guys know what I mean."
So what issue do you have: the higiene, or the visualization?
i agree--libraries in large towns have become a hangout for degenerates, mentally ill, drugged out homeless.
i think that filtered computers in the children's section are the answer----as to adults viewing porn in the library ----why---aren't libraries there to enhance one's knowledge?--what will porn teach---how to abuse and degrade others?
If one needs to be visually stimulated EVERY community has adult shops---start a free library there___may boost buisness
Sometimes it's like that. We have had one guy come in drunk or stoned and he's actually peed in our chairs.
I don't agree with filters on the kid's computers but I think some sort of covers for the screen is a good idea. I think a lot of people would like it.
I know some people click out of things when I am shelving books when really I have no interest in what they are viewing.
It's kind of like free speech, I may disagree with what someone says but I'll fight for their right to say it. Make sense? It's the same way with viewing porn in the library. I realize it's not a right to view porn in the library but I tend to think of the library as a place that you can come and not be judged. We have all sorts of books at our library and I feel people should be able to check out any type of book or look at any kind of site without fear of being judged.
So what if I sat in a public spot and watched porn on my iPhone? I kept it low and didn't masturbate. Would that be a problem? If you looked over my should to see what I was watching--and you got offended--would you (or anyone, rather) have any say in the matter?

I really do not understand your point. What does hygiene have to do with it. I'm sure there are some clean young men (and women) who watch porn and may not be able to afford it. I really do not know why they would watch porn at the library. One person mentioned doing research (ah huh?).
I'm not a guy, so maybe you were not addressing me? I just really do not know what you mean?
